On an different topic, what did the survey sheets say from our Local Food Presentation? I am curious what people are interested in.

I have been a bit out of the loop on the conversation about the tree planting due to a variety of reasons. However, one option to consider is to contact the Texas Tree Foundation (supported by TXU Energy). They quite often need help in planting seedlings as well as trees, and there is no commitment to watering. They have planted thousands of trees and welcome volunteers.
Contact is:

Hope this is helpful.

No idea.
I guess we would not know where until we got further into it.
The more I think about it, I don't think watering them for a year is a commitment I think we should put on anyone. It seems too burdensome.
There may be no water source close by, and even it there was, I bet we would have to get the water from someone, necessitating getting their approval, making arrangements to get water access, etc. If it was just one tree, maybe the water would work, but since any project like this would involve mulitiple trees to make an impact, then getting access to enought water, transporting it to the trees, and making this happen over a one year period seems like to much to ask urban life, or for that matter, our group.

I like trees but where would the trees be planted? If it is not downtown it might be more trouble than it is worth.

Guys-
Here is Wayne's response re: our tree project.
Looks like we would be responsible for a year after planting.
Not sure we should/could do that.
What do you guys think?

Mike,
I did check into some projects back when we first talked. I am sure there are still several out there. Talk to Linda, and see what size scope of a project they may be interested in. How large of a group of volunteers the two groups might have together, and determine if there is a specific area you would most be interested in.
You also need to think about water, and the availability of it near a project. The City is requesting that groups be responsible for watering for at least one year after planting. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance. My cell # is 214.707.1951.
Take care,
Wayne

Wayne-
I talked to you last December about a project for Urban Life and our 1st ecoteam re: planting trees.
I think I delayed because the Urban Life leader was not yet on board, but maybe I just dropped the ball (more likely the latter, my wife says).
Could you give me your cell phone no., so we can talk about this?
Now that Linda Roby is on board as head of Urban Life, I wanted to call her re: the possible interest of her group in such a project, but before I did I wanted to reconnect with you on it.
Are you still willing to help us find some City dept. in need of help in that regard?
My cell is 214-766-3292, and work phone is below.
Tks.!
