Ever wondered what the Playland Coaster is like IN THE DARK? Here is your
chance! This is the first time Playland has ever operated the Coaster
without lighting (something the staff has done after closing and they say
it is extremely cool!) Read on?

VANCOUVER'S NEWEST HALLOWEEN EVENT: FRIGHT NIGHTS AT THE PNE
Venture past Playland most days of its operating season and you're sure to
hear terrified screams, horrified wails, and the occasional prayer. Heck,
we've had people faint, vomit, and every once in a while, pee their pants.
And that's just on our rides ? imagine what we could do if we gave you
another reason to scream ... like riding in the dark on Halloween and some
of the scariest haunted houses in Canada.
With that thought in mind, the Pacific National Exhibition is pleased to
announce that for the first time in its 93 year history, it's opening the
gates of Hell ? ahem Playland ? in October for a very special Halloween
event: Fright Nights at the PNE.
Playland will be completely transformed into the ultimate Halloween
experience. Think B movie 80s horror flick: lots of teenagers in a
"haunted amusement park" after dark.
Each Fright Nights guest will receive a Ticket-to-Terror card, with one
ticket to each of the four custom designed haunted houses that will be
constructed on site. The card will also include a "pick your poison" ticket
good for a second pass at your favorite house. Included in your admission
to the park will be unlimited access to Playland's Hell's Gate, Wave
Swinger, and the classic Wooden Coaster. Also for the first time in its
history, Playland will operate the Wooden Coaster in the dark during Fright
Nights! Boo! Scary!
"We believe that this will be the biggest Halloween event ever in
Vancouver," says Pacific National Exhibition President and CEO Michael
McDaniel.
The Pacific National Exhibition is partnering with one of the premier
haunted house/horror event companies in North America: Spooky's Haunted
House Inc.. Spooky's Creative Director Seymour Mardinger has designed all
four of the Fright Nights houses:
· Fear Lives Here
· Asylum of Terror
· House of Phobia
· The Dark Side
"I am confident that the people of Vancouver will be thrilled with all of
the haunted houses," says Mardinger. "I have constructed each house to be a
completely different experience, and each house will feature a cast of live
characters, which makes our haunted houses even scarier than traditional
haunted houses."
