BASKETBALL COACHES NEEDED
Basketball coaches are needed for the 2004-05
basketball program offered by The
Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning
Commission throughout southern Prince George's
County. Coaches are needed for both the Pee Wee
League 5-6 year-old co-ed, and the Developmental
League 7-16 year-old co-ed.
These are non-paying volunteer positions intended
to teach the fundamentals of basketball. Women
and men interested in supporting community youth
programs are encouraged to contact their local
community center, or call M-NCPPC, Department of
Parks and Recreation Southern Area Office at

WINTER DEVELOPMENTAL BASKETBALL LEAGUE
A Winter Developmental Basketball League for boys
and girls ages 7-16 years old is being offered by
The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning
Commission, Department of Parks and Recreation,
in the southern area of Prince George's County.
Developmental basketball offers well-organized
fun, while introducing youngsters to the game of
basketball. This program also fosters the
development of teamwork and physical fitness.
Games will be played on Saturdays starting
January 8, 2005. Registration cost per player
is $35.00 with a valid M-NCPPC Community Center
Identification Card. Registration dates are:
Monday, November 8, 2004, from 6:00-8:00 pm for
ages 7 to 10, Wednesday, November 10, 2004, from
6-8:00 pm for ages 11 to 16,
and Saturday, November 13, 2004, from 1-3:00 pm for all ages.
Space is limited to twelve (12) players per team,
per age group. To be eligible to play in a
particular age group children must have reached
the specified age of 7, 9, 11, 13, or 15 on or
before November 8, 2004. Birth Certificates are
required at registration unless the child's age
has been previously verified as part of the
SMARTlink system. Available co-ed age groups are:
7- 8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-16.

Developmental League teams for every age group,
so register early.

PEE WEE BASKETBALL LEAGUE AGES 5-6

per team, per age group. To be eligible,

or before October 2, 2004. Birth certificates
are required at registration unless the child's

Hard Bargain Farm Environmental Education is
seeking volunteers for its 24th annual
Oktoberfest to be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Sept. 25
at Hard Bargain Farm, Alice Ferguson Foundation,
2301 Bryan Point Road, Accokeek. The event will
feature Alpine music and dance, homemade German
cuisine, old-fashioned hay-wagon rides and other
activities. Help is needed to operate event and
food booths, direct traffic and more. This
Oktoberfest is a fund-raiser for educational
programs, which serve more than 8,000 students
yearly, 4,000 from Prince George's County. Call
