1918: A.R. Appenheimer serving as a teamster hauling rations,
ammunition & other supplies, with Headquarters Detachement, 6th MG
Bttn., stationed in Sommedieue, behind the trenches along the Meuse
southeast of Verdun.
1919: AR Appenheimer, having left from Hoboken, NJ, the previous day
(April 21) and traveled into the night, records in his diary: "Arrive
at Quantico at 1 a.m. and are kept busy drawing clothes and other red
tape."
