1918: A.R. Appenheimer serving as teamster hauling rations, ammunition
& other supplies, with Headquarters Detachement, 6th MG Bttn.,
stationed in Sommedieue, behind the trenches along the Meuse southeast
of Verdun.
1919: A.R. Appenheimer at Quantico, Virginia, awaiting completion of
discharge paperwork. He records in his diary: "Its warmer here than
it was overseas, and the sun looks good again. Wrote home today for
affidavits."
