Dear Family,
First of all, welcome to Maggie Roberts, descendent of Anthony
Remington. Her message to our list is included below, in case any of
you missed it. Maggie asked if there was any information about the
Remingtons prior to Anthony. As it happens, at the Appenheimer
reunion in Ohio this summer, Clay Appenheimer's daughter Sarah told
me about a family tree she had recently obtained. She sent it to me
a while back, and I sent a copy on to Dorothy Schmidt in Toulon. I
will send a copy to you, Maggie, if you send me (at
skip-@labyrinth.net) your address. Will also send a copy to
anyone else who would like one. Let me know.
The history identifies Anthony Remington's parents as Ruel Remington
(born 1734) and Robe (?) Rice, daughter of Thomas Rice (1700-1779) of
Warwick, Rhode Island.
Ruel Remington's parents were Stephen Remington (born 1689) and Lydia
Rhodes, daughter of Peleg & Sarah Stevens Rhodes.
Stephen Remington's parents were Thomas Remington (born 1659 in
Rowley, Massachusetts; died 1710 in Warwick, R.I.) and Mary Allen,
daughter of William & Elizabeth Allen.
Thomas Remington's parents were John & Abigail Remington, but the
history shows no further information on them.
This family tree was recorded by Lyle Buchanan of Durand, Michigan.
Other news: some time before Christmas I received an email from an
Appenheimer, which, unfortunately, has been lost. I don't remember
his first name. He mentioned that he visited had Alpheus Appenheimer
& family in Toulon during the 1960s, but that is all I remember.
Before I had a chance to respond, I evidently deleted his message by
accident. I will be posting a notice on the Appenheimer website to
this individual, explaining the loss of his message, and asking him
to contact me again.
That is all for now. We hear Mitchell Young & his new bride Mary
Madeleine had a fine honeymoon at a motorcycle rally in South Dakota,
to which they whizzed up on Mitchell's Classic Harley Davidson from
Louisiana. Must have been a nice little jaunt!

Remington Appenheimer. I still have that copy. There are a few
errors
in it regarding my line, but it has been very helpful, especially in
gathering my paperwork for membership in the DAR.
I wondered if anyone had any names/dates for the parents and beyond
of
Anthony (1), and any info on either Hannah Otter or Wealtha Ann
Aldridge, Anthony (2) wife. I would like to get as much info and
documentation as possible. Given that Mary's middle name was
Winthrop,
I am curious if that is a maiden name of one of the grandmothers.
