Hi all,

I took a drive around the Medford side of the lakes today with a friend and stopped at a few places. I'm surprised at how much ice still has to go. There were hooded mergansers, common mergansers, ring-necked ducks, wood ducks, bufflehead, one ruddy duck, great cormorants, osprey (1), and a surprising lack of red-winged blackbirds and grackles (none). We then drove over to the Arlington Reservoir, and there was a lone pair of ring-necked ducks on the far side in a small patch of open water. The rest of the pond is still iced over. As I am scheduled to lead a walk there next Sunday, I will be keeping track of the ice out and would appreciate hearing from people who visit the Res this week.

Thanks!
Debora
