Producer and director, Victoria Holt, is Janie Rezner's guest on Women's Voices, Monday, June 14 on KZYX at 7 pm. Victoria is the creator of a multimedia campaign, including a documentary television series, called "Extraordinary Women," honoring 13 women making extraordinary contributions to easing the suffering in the world.
Victoria was hired to film the Global Peace Initiative of Women at the United Nations, Geneva, 2002, the first of it's kind, and while there interviewed over 40 women from around the world. Kofi Annan had reached out to women spiritual, business and government leaders to help him with peace negotiations and to readdress the imbalance between male and female energy in the world, so that it can start to heal, and become a kinder and more loving place. Victoria was deeply moved and inspired by the women. After the Summit was that it was clear that the media needed to play a more active role in addressing Social Issues and in building a higher profile of women and their work. Victoria was asked to lead this--and so she created "Extraordinary Women" an exciting new venture!
Victoria works with a dedicated family of film-makers, writers, designers, fundraisers and marketing specialists committed to bringing through new stories of hope, new role models and new information. She writes, "It is only through the media that we can start to reach a wider audience and bring through new information to an audience starved for spiritual healing."
The list of "Extraordinary Women" includes Ammachi or Mother as she is called, a world renowned Saint from India and a modern day Mother Theresa aiding the poor; Mother Maya, Spiritual Mother and pioneer in education and services to the poor; Mae Chee Sansanee, Spiritual leader of Thailand and savior to women and children, Dhyani Ywahoo, Chief of the Green Mountain Cherokee Tribe, Christina Noble, abused orphan turned staunch campaigner for children's rights in Asia: Jetsun Pema, Mother to thousands of Tibetan children in exile and Jane Goodall, acclaimed scientist, conservationist and UN Messenger for Peace.
