Arlington County Parking Ticket Appeals Process Gets Overhaul; Two new
ways to request court date announced

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Arlington County Police Department today announced
two new ways that persons who receive parking tickets may request a
court date to contest the ticket without having to appear in person at
the police department.

"This fine-tuning of the new policy, implemented in November 2008, will
make it easier for those who wish to contest their parking tickets,"
said Police Chief Douglas Scott. "Drivers told us that it was just too
difficult to make two personal appearances, and we have responded. With
this new policy, you can still appear in person at the police department
- but you can also either call or go on-line."

-To request a court date in the General District Court, you must first
complete an affidavit. You can request an affidavit by either:
* Completing an online request at
www.arlingtonva.us/Departments/Police/pro/PoliceProMain.aspx.
* Calling toll free at 1-866-219-4912 and speak to a customer service
representative.

With either of the above options, an affidavit packet will be mailed to
you. Once the affidavit is completed and returned to the processing
center, a Notice of Hearing will be mailed to you with your court date.

Or

* You may appear in person at:
Arlington County Police Department Customer Service Counter
   1425 N. Courthouse Road, Arlington, VA. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
