Mr. Smith, I most definitely agree. The BWNA made an inventory of
neighborhood sideway projects and submitted to the city several years ago.
And for some reason the sidewalks along Northwood continue to get
overlooked...
Last year TXDOT was evaluating how they could make the Westover/Northwood
MoPAC interchange more safe and sidewalks were in the plan this plan was
not funded however.
My guess is that TXDOT is waiting to overhaul or possibly close the
Westover/Northwood MoPAC ramps. Regardless safety MUST be improved!
See the following link for an analysis of neighborhood traffic problems
http://www.txinfo.com/brykerwoods/Mopac/traffic.html
I suggest some courses of action:
1 contact BWNA board member Joyce Basciano <jbasc-@austin.rr.com> and
ask with whom you should speak in the city regarding sidewalks. (please let
me know too!) I think it at one time was Alan Hughes?
2 attend the MONAC meetings and speak as an advocate for the installation
of sidewalks along Northwood Joyce Basciano is also the president of MONAC
and tell you of the next meeting date.
And of course please feel free to contact me directly. I have for years been
trying to improve the safety along the extremely busy Northwood Road.

Subject: sidewalk requests
I live on Northwood Road, which has a lot of traffic and no sidewalk.
Does anyone know what is involved in requesting a sidewalk for a
neighborhood street? I understand Capital Metro is the organization
most likely to have the budget to fund sidewalks on bus routes.
