*_Stewardship Intern -- Placer Land Trust_**__*
Placer Land Trust is looking for environmentally conscious and educated
individuals with a desire to expand their skills while providing
meaningful services to both the environment and local community. Placer
Land Trust is dedicated to working with willing landowners to preserve
and manage land throughout Placer County for future generations.
Placer Land Trust, located in Auburn, is looking for individuals
majoring in biology, ecology, water quality, environmental studies or a
related field, to help facilitate and complete land stewardship work.
The intern would be responsible for assisting staff on a wide variety of
tasks including but not limited to;
. property monitoring - using GPS, GIS (Geographic Information
Systems) and associated computer software to compile data and map
current properties
. stream monitoring -- record meaningful data to assess the
health of streams and creeks that run through PLT properties
. Restoration work -- remove invasive plant species that are
located on PLT properties. Assist in planting native plant species.
. Complete plant surveys, flora & fauna identification and
cataloging procedures to help PLT determine what plants & animals exist
on current properties, their densities, and overall landscape health
The intern would also be responsible for assisting PLT staff with any
other current conservation and stewardship work. A majority of the
work would be outside and may require some moderate hiking, so interns
must be in good physical condition. Interns may also be asked to lead
tours and/or train volunteers. We are willing to provide work that is
both interesting and relevant to the intern's interests and desires. To
apply or to learn more about specific work, please contact Kelsey
Stavseth at Kel-@placerlandtrust.org or call 530 -- 887 -- 9222.
Placer Land Trust is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
incorporated in 1991 and dedicated to working with willing landowners
and conservation partners to permanently preserve natural and
agricultural lands in Placer County. To date the Trust has preserved
4,654 acres across Placer County for current and future generations.
