r a part-time, temporary biological technician through the Student Temporar=
y Employment Program (STEP), offered by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Thi=
s position supports the protection and conservation of fish, wildlife, and =
their habitats. This is a federal government position. =0A=0APOSITION: =0A=
=E2=80=A2 Part-time, one year position =0A=E2=80=A2 Total of 520 hour term =
of service =0A=E2=80=A2 Flexible work hours =0A=E2=80=A2 Position Duration =
& Service Commitment: Start date between mid-August and late September 2009=

nformation needs vital to effective habitat management on the refuge. Prima=
ry responsibilities include: 1) Surveying and mapping targeted invasive wee=
ds on the Refuge Complex, and 2) Developing species-specific weed managemen=
t recommendations for land managers. =0A=0AThis position will involve exten=
sive field surveys in wetlands and uplands, plant identification, mapping u=
sing GPS technology, data entry, writing invasive weed management recommend=
ations, and driving on unimproved roads/levees. =0A=0AMINIMUM NECESSARY QUA=
LIFICATIONS: =0A=0A=E2=80=A2 At least 16 years of age. =0A=E2=80=A2 A U.S. =
Citizen or National =0A=E2=80=A2 Enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a p=
rogram of study leading to a degree, diploma, or certificate at an accredit=
ed high school, technical or vocational school, two or four year college or=
university, graduate or professional school =0A=E2=80=A2 Taking at least a=
half-time course load as defined by the school. An exception to this requi=
rement is permitted when a student is in the final period before graduation=
and needs to complete less than a half-time course load. =0A=E2=80=A2 A st=
udent in good standing with the academic institution and maintaining the gr=
ade point average (GPA) requirements of the school. =0A=0AEXPERIENCE AND/OR=
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS =0A=0AApplicants ARE required to possess the foll=
owing experience OR educational requirements, or an equivalent combination =
thereof: =0A=0A=E2=80=A2 EXPERIENCE: =0Ao 6 months general experience that =
demonstrate the ability to perform work of the position, or experience that=
provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad s=
ubject area of the occupation, and =0A=0Ao 6 months of specialized experien=
ce that equip the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abil=
ities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typic=

hat included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of scientific or=
