The California Invasive Plant Council invites abstracts for contributed
papers and posters for our annual Symposium in Visalia! This year's
theme is "The Leading Edge of Wildland Weed Management". The Cal-IPC
Symposium brings together more than 300 researchers, land managers, and
other weed workers from throughout California. Many of our attendees
tell us this is their favorite conference and return year after year.
Paper sessions are held Thursday and Friday, October 8-9. Oral
presentations are 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions. A designated
poster session will allow poster presenters to interact with attendees.
Graduate and undergraduate students are encouraged to enter our Student
Paper and Poster Contest.
We especially encourage presentations that relate (broadly) to this
year's theme. "Leading edge" can refer to stopping new invasions, a
"cutting edge" control technique, or leading the way with an innovative
community restoration program. Other topics of interest include:
* Invasive plant biology and ecology
* Control techniques
* Mapping and monitoring
* Habitat restoration as part of invasive plant control
* Early detection and rapid response
* Exceptional invasive plant removal projects or outreach programs
* Social issues or policy related to invasive plant management
