The next meeting of Colorado Women In Technology will be August 23 at The
Great Northern Tavern Restaurant in Denver.

Julie Herzog, attorney and managing member of the firm Schuchat Herzog &
Brenman, will present:

10 Legal Issues Every IT and Small Business should be Aware of

This month's speaker, Julie Herzog, will review legal issues that impact
our businesses, including company formation and financing issues,
intellectual property development, transfer and licensing, how to avoid
being subject to lawsuits in other states, privacy issues and the federal
CAN-SPAM Act. Julie's presentation is an interactive case study used to
bring key legal issues to light. Bring your own legal questions and your
thinking cap. You'll be surprised how engaging a talk about legal issues
can be!

Julie is an attorney and managing member of the firm Schuchat Herzog &
Brenman. She has extensive experience advising a broad range of business
clients in a variety of industries, including high technology, Internet,
software, media, cable and telecommunications, entertainment, investment
banking, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, consulting and other services. She
has advised clients in connection with their initial formations, domestic
and international mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic
alliances, management buyouts, debt and equity financings (including angel
investments, venture capital, private equity and public offerings),
technology transfer and licensing, corporate governance matters, securities
and stock exchange compliance and a diverse range of commercial
transactions. She has counseled a number of companies from inception
through their initial public offerings or successful sales.

Outside of work, Julie serves on the Associate Board of the Boys & Girls
Clubs of Metro Denver, on the Advisory Board of and as outside general
counsel to Stellar Connections, as a partner in Social Venture Partners, as
an angel and advisor to CTEK and as a member of Women Business Executives
and Colorado Women in Technology. In 2002 she was named a "40 under 40" by
the Denver Business Journal. Julie received her law degree from Southern
Methodist University Law School (cum laude), where she was Law Review
