Media Alliance (San Francisco) and the Ecology Center (Berkeley) are
co-sponsoring a "Delegation to Cuba" February 15-24, 2002.
The trip is for journalists, environmentalists, and members and
supporters of the two organizations. It will include meetings with Cuban
journalists, writers, and artists; visits to agriculatal cooperatives,
an organic medicinal plant facility, a tobacco cooperative (personally I
think it's unseemly for tobacco to be on the agenda, particularly for
environmentalists), educational institutions, media trade unions, and a
biosphere reserve, as well as cultural activities including bike riding,
hiking, and salsa dancing.
Cost is $1,600, which includes airfare from/to Cancun, hotels and meals
in Cuba, transportation, translators, and trip leaders. Not included:
travel to and from Cancun, and individual outings and personal expenses.
