The next CHSC meeting will be Saturday, November 13 at 10:30 am in the
Central Library Auditorium.
I will be giving a presentation, “From manuscripts to canastas:
Ibero-Mexican culinary resources at the Los Angeles Public Library”.
The library has the outstanding collection of these materials in the
United States. Early printed works from Spain and Portugal, Mexican
manuscripts, and hundreds of ancient and modern printed books give the
amateur and the scholar the ability to do extensive research in the
delicious food that is the heritage cuisine of California.
We’ll look at examples of various materials from the library’s rich
collections of rare books, regular books, menus and ephemera.
I look forward to seeing you there.
