Sam Phillips, founder of Sun Records, has died. The 80-year old Phillips
fell ill Wednesday evening while watching a baseball game, according to
The Commercial Appeal. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Memphis
where he passed away.
Phillips was instrumental in the careers of Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee
Lewis, Elvis Presley, Charlie Rich and Roy Orbison, among others.
