Marshall Lon "Deacon" Freeman, the last original member of the band that
became the Oak Ridge Boys has died at 82. He left the group in 1949
because
the road kept him away from his family.
Freeman died at his Rocky Face, Georgia home last Wednesday. He was the
last surviving member of the Oak Ridge Quartet, which later became
gospel
group The Oak Ridge Boys.
