MAJORITY SUPPORT COMMUTING DEATH PENALTY
IN UNSCIENTIFIC POLL BY CNN'S WOLF BLITZER

In an unscientific survey conducted on the Web site of CNN's Wolf
Blitzer <http://www.cnn.com/wolf> Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, a majority
favored the decision of outgoing Illinois Gov. George Ryan to commute
all 167 death sentences in the state to life in prison.
Blitzer announced near the end of his 5-6 p.m. (ET) program that 57%
approved of Ryan's decision, versus 43% disapproving. See near the end
