Oh no. I hate it I when I discover I've posted personal mail to a
public list. *big sigh*. Oh well.
Someone just alerted me to a new 2008 BBC disc "BBC Radiophonic
Workshop - A Retrospective" that contains studio-quality versions of
Delia's music that were otherwise only to be found in awful quality
recorded from flexidiscs and suchlike. The full track listing with
author credits is at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_Radiophonic_Workshop_-_A_Retrospective
It even includes a personal favourite, Peter Howell's "Greenwich Chorus".
Good on 'em!
More news: the May 2009 edition of "The Word" magazine has a spread on
pages 54-55 that mentions Delia too, including a photo of "the holy
relic that is Delia Derbyshire's lampshade" (!)
And if, like me, you missed the screening of the new "The Delian Mode"
film in London on the 11th April, there's a second chance in Toronto
on May 10th and 12th. If it becomes available on DVD I'll be sure to
let you know where from.
