The 6th Disability Film Festival will be opened with the screening of
Cloud Cuckoo Land (UK 2004/Dir Matt Dickinson, starring Steve Warden and
Derek Jacobi).

“Sandy Kenyon is an aircraft enthusiast who dreams that one day he’ll be
able to fly. Most people he meets find it hard to believe as Sandy has
cerebral palsy. He and his grandfather spend their spare time searching
for aircraft wrecks and when Sandy learns about a mysterious missing
wreck, he escapes his care home to find it. Sandy’s quest for freedom is
not a smooth ride. He faces suspicion and hostility from all quarters,
but magical things happen.”…

The 6th Disability Film Festival will be held from 1 to 5 December 2004.
It is a showcase of the talent of disabled filmmakers. All the films
screened share the clear creative ownership of disabled people.
The Festival is produced by London Disability Arts Forum, hosted by the
National Film Theatre, and funded by Bridge House Estate Trust, UK Film
Council and Film London.

* Interactive Web Clinics *

To tell you the truth, we don’t know much about them, but have a look
for yourself: EASI (Equal Access to Software and Information) in
California is producing 2 monthly series of hour-long, Interactive Web
‘conferences’, called ‘clinics’, on specific accessibility-related
topics. You can listen to the presenter, watch pushed Web pages and also
ask questions yourself.

You will need a Windows operating system with Internet Explorer 6, a
sound card and speakers plus a working mic if you want to participate in
the chat.
There are free and tuition-based events.

Sky celebrates International Day For Disabled People on Friday 3rd
December with a triple-bill of audio-described films, and a triple-bill
of films with In-Vision Signing on Sky Movies.

They would like people to air their views on accessible film and have
asked Your Local Cinema.com to help.
For a chance to win two fully subtitled Lord of the Rings Playstation 2
games, or free tickets for subtitled or audio described Odeon cinema

* Open Spaces Open Places Northampton *

Would you like to show your artwork in a non-conventional space? You
don’t need to be based in Northampton. “Open Spaces Open Places”
exhibitions take place in cafes, bars and other public buildings in and
around Northampton town centre during the month of June 2005, as part of
Northampton Festival.

If you would like to be considered please provide the following
information by the end of December 2004.

- A minimum of six good quality visuals of your work
- A PC disc/CD or 100 meg zip with images as jpegs/tiffs at 72 dots per
inch
- Text about you and your work as word document
- A PC floppy disc containing artist statement and CV
- The type of venue you would like to show your work
- Or please telephone Jane Roberts for a chat

Commissions up to GBP 2500 will be available for next year's project.

The selected artists will be encouraged to build up a relationship with
the venue and be available for hanging work during the last week in May.
Artists will be expected to attend the Launch in early June and be
available at least once during the month to meet the public at the venue
and talk about their work.

Training & Workshops

* Training Opportunity for Disabled Dancers in Wales *

An 8-day training programme for dancers wishing to develop their skills
in leading workshops for disabled and non-disabled young people.

Led by Rachel Freeman (Artistic Director of Blue Eyed Soul Dance
Company)

The programme includes:-
- 2 days planning, 5 days of workshops with inclusive groups (disabled
and non-disabled young people age 9 - 16 years),
- 1 day evaluation and appraisal with continuous
mentoring/coaching/training as required.
- The programme covers project management, inclusive teaching skills,
planning, delivery and evaluation of workshops.

Timetable:
Application due date December 22nd 2004
Interviews Tuesday 11th January 2005
Training and delivery February/March 2005

Project base: Mid Wales
Trainee’s expenses available

Disabled dancers at any point in their careers are welcome to apply.

Got Some Spare Time?

* DADAFEST *

Merseyside's DADAFEST is has started a couple of days ago, but there’s
still time to enjoy some of the greatest talents in the UK over the
coming week.
This year’s festival has 41 productions taking place in 9 different
venues across Merseyside. The diverse programme of events includes
theatre, live art, performance art, comedy, poetry, a club night, rap,
signed dance, live music, visual art, debates, conferences, young
people’s events and a variety of workshops.

A spectacular evening of live music, comedy and dance, celebrating
International Day fo Disabled People.
The event raises the profile of disability arts in Milton Keynes and

The Cabaret will be held at Woughton Theatre, Rainbow Drive, Leadenhall,
Milton Keynes
