Dear Fine Arts League of Cary Members:
You are invited to the Grace Li Wang Art Gallery's Reception to meet the
Artists and to view the new gallery exhibit, "<A HREF="http://www.graceliwang.com/quintessence">Quintessence</A>", on Sunday, July 13,
from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
The Grace Li Wang Art Gallery presents the summer exhibition, "Quintessence,"
on view through September 30, 2003. "Quintessence" exhibit is about the
ethereal and spiritual dimensions of the human quality.
The exhibit is the unique arrangement of contemporary art that extends into
two gallery units. Gallery I features the art of Wayne Epperly, Grace Li Wang
and Wendy Painter. Gallery II displays the works of John Faulkner, Meredith
Steele, Marty Matthews, Jason Craighead, Gary Palmer, Mike Everson, Angela Smith,
and Andrei Acris.
Wayne Epperly studied painting at the Gloucester Academy of Fine Arts in
Massachusetts and has created works that connect human primordial origins with
nature. The celebration of life is the foundation of Epperly's work and his
artistic style transcends strength and softness through the elaborate use of subtle
earth tones, combined with pulsating colors. A divine aura permeates through
the whimsical images and soft finishes of his art aiding his hope for the
viewer to become attached to his art in a spiritual way. Epperly has held numerous
exhibitions in the U.S., and his art has been featured in several corporate
collections.
Grace Li Wang's contemporary paintings are known for their dramatic colors
and stylized forms in both representational and abstract presentations. Wang's
media is two-dimensional work executed in oil, acrylic, pastels and mixed
media. Gallery I features new works from Wang's, "Fields" collection and also
exhibits Wang's "Nude Studies" as a tribute to the innate nature of the human
figures. Grace transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary through her multihued
art. Gallery II takes a refreshing journey into Grace's vivid works from her
Nature collection, which includes art from the "Fields," "Landscapes," and
"Flower" series. Grace Li Wang's special edition, signature series of art
notecards box sets from the "Nature Collection" have just been released and can be
purchased at the Gallery or via the Gallery website.
John Faulkner categorizes his art as neo-impressionism and creates visual
images using contrasting bold colors and striking details which provide the
viewer with multiple color, light, and structural elements. When viewed from a
distance, Faulkner's works become almost three-dimensional images of light and
dark. His extensive international travels have provided varied and exotic subject
matters for his paintings. Faulkner lives and paints in Cary, North Carolina.
