Subject: Call for Entries: Davidson County Community College
I am recruiting for the next show. Hope that you interested in this
next show. If you are, please send me an email that you will be
submitting slides, so I can begin a tentative list. Sandra
CALL FOR ENTRIES: SLIDE DEADLINE: Oct 31, 2003
I am currently accepting submissions of original artwork for the
"Spring Show" at Davidson County Community College (DCCC). The works
will be exhibited in the Mendenhall Administration Building on the
campus of DCCC, Lexington, NC. The show will open January 20, 2004,
with a reception and will run through May 20, 2004.
Installation will be the week before. Please note that the works
must be hand delivered and installed by the artist. I will be there
to guide the installation. Artists with work that is too heavy or
large to be handled by one person must arrange to bring help to hang
their pieces. The location is interested in all styles in both 2-D
and 3-D media. Sculptors and entries by minority artists are
particularly encouraged to submit. Sculptors must provide their own
pedestals if needed. Due to the nature of the space, nudes or
imagery with overt religious or sociopolitical themes will not be
considered.
Exhibits will hang for the entire time set. The number of pieces
accepted will be determined by size of artwork. Eight to ten artists
are selected each time, with each artist having his or her own area
in which to hang accepted work. Artwork will be insured with a
$250.00 deductible, the responsibility of the artist. To list the
art not for sale is acceptable; in the event of a sale, the
exhibition space will receive a 25% commission. The space is
responsible for collecting and reporting NC sales tax. The site will
print a color postcard and hold a reception, providing catered food
and music.
To be considered for this exhibition, please send the following
documents: 1) a cover letter stating that you are applying for this
location, 2) 10 - 20 slides of available works, 3) a current resume,
4) a brief first person artist's statement, 5) a slide script
(listing title of work, size, media, prices, and dates your work
will be available), and 6) a SASE for return of materials. Send
these to the address below.

1494 Hickory Tree Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127
The specific works to be displayed at the DCCC site will be selected
from the submitted slides, so please submit slides of works that
will be available during those exhibition dates. Slides will be
reviewed soon after the deadline to create the exhibition schedule.
For consideration, slides must be received by the deadline.
Submission packets received after the deadline will be held for the
following slide screening. Slides are reviewed twice a year. The
next exhibition will run August 2004 to December 2004.
Please feel free to forward this Call for Entries to other artists.
If you have recently shown with this location, please wait at least
a year to reapply.
Thank you. I look forward to seeing your slides.
