September 11, 2009
Language Office:
§ Continue praying for one of the project leader’s recovery
from surgery for obstructed bowel. He has been discharged from the hospital
and continues to recover nearby at his sister’s home.
§ Praise for the good trip that Raymond and Edson had last
week to arrange a church leaders meeting to discuss the start of a new
language project. Praise for opportunity to share Jesus Film example in a
related language, as well as the Swahili version the second night as well.
§ Pray for safe travel for translation team leaders
traveling in next week for Paratext Training, Spiritual retreat and
Exegetical training.
§ Praise that all the translators are back at work after a
week off following the annual training; all reports from the villages are
good.
§ Praise for the marriage of two translators from different
language groups who were married last weekend; both want to continue their
translation work, so pray for wisdom for how to help them continue their
work in different places while starting their marriage.
§ One translator has just been diagnosed with diabetes. She
is only 26 yrs old and has been put on rest for 2 weeks.
§ Pray for needed strategy and planning meetings and
strategically getting new personnel fitted into the team.
§ Pray for a solution to the need of training more
translators in some of the ongoing projects, as well as for new projects;
praise that several potential translators have been found for training and
pray for others to be identified where there is still a need.
§ Pray for R. Mainde who traveled to work with several new
translators for a couple of weeks in his former language project due to the
team leader’s illness and his departure to serve as a national exegete.
Scripture Impact:
§ Have postponed an SI ministry week on the coast to help
arrange for the start of a new translation project. Pray for the plans and
rescheduling of this event.
§ Praise that Edson was able to distribute food aid in a
drought area with funds that were left by Livingstone work team.
