~Welcome to our new volume and 10th season of Friends Newsletters!~
Jennifer Aniston was recently in London filming a series of TV and print
ads for Barclaycard's Visa credit cards, which are now running in the
U.K.

The 56th Annual Primetime Emmys, which aired last Sunday, Sept. 19, was
not kind to our Friends'. Jennifer Aniston lost to Sarah Jessica Parker
and Matt LeBlanc lost to Kelsey Grammar :( both were the only two
Friends in attendance. Matthew Perry had been nominated for his guest
appearance on The West Wing, but he unfortunately didn't win either.
Considering it was Friends last year like Sex and The City and Fraiser,
it would have been nice for Friends to have gone out in style as well,
they at least should have been honored with a Best Comedy Series
nomination. It was especially unfair given that Kelsey has won the Best
Actor in a Comedy Series award four times while LeBlanc had not won
once, he was however an Emmy presenter. According to Bill Keveney and
William Keck from USA Today: "Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston sent the
red carpet into a frenzy. Aniston, who was nominated for her work on
Friends, did most of the posing and interviewing while Pitt played the
waiting husband." Aniston looked chic in a white strapless Chanel gown
accented with gold embroidery.
Newsweek writer, Marc Peyser, has LeBlanc's new show "Joey" as one of
the top
5 best shows to watch this season in his "Must See or Must Flee?" list.
Peyser writes, "Ten years ago who would have thought that simple-minded
Joey Tribiani would be the friend who go the spinoff? Let's be honest:
"Joey" is no "Friends." But Matt LeBlanc is as adorably dense as ever,
and as his sister, Drea de Matteo already feels like family.
Friends Season 8 is being released on DVD November 9th in time for the
holidays. This is the season where Rachel is pregnant.

Tonight, Wednesday 9/22 Matt LeBlanc will be on Late Night With Conan
O'Brien. You can catch a repeat of the episode on Comedy Central the
following day, check local listings.

Schwimmer Files Slander Suit
Sept. 21, E! Online
By Sarah Hall
He may have played whiny Ross Geller on Friends, but David Schwimmer
wants it known that he's no diva.
Last week, Schwimmer filed a multimillion-dollar slander suit against
former celebrity fundraiser Aaron Tonken.
The suit alleges Tonken leaked unflattering and false details about
Schwimmer to the National Enquirer--specifically, that Schwimmer had
demanded Tonken buy him two Rolex watches worth more than $26,000 in
exchange for appearing at a charity event.
The details of Schwimmer's alleged demands appeared in the March 22
edition of the Enquirer in an article entitled "Hollywood Fundraising,
Celebrity Greed, Blockbuster New Book Says Stars and Politicians Raked
in $Millions Meant for Charity."
Schwimmer's suit calls Tonken a "scheming pathological liar" and accuses
him of being "bent on castigating Schwimmer and other celebrities by
conducting bogus stories...in an effort to justify [his] own deceit and
lies."
Tonken was sentenced in August to more than five years in prison on
unrelated charges that he defrauded numerous A-listers out of more than
$2 million in charity donations that actually went into his own pocket.
The disgraced fundraiser has also been ordered to pay $3.8 million in
restitution costs.
Though Tonken claimed to have receipts and invoices proving that he
purchased a pair of Rolexes for Schwimmer in exchange for his
appearance, the suit counters that Tonken actually purchased the watches
for himself and his business partner, Bruce Cantanese, using Cantanese's
credit card.
Schwimmer claims that he never requested nor received any compensation
for his appearance at the charity event in question. According to his
suit, "Tonken intentionally portrayed [him] in this untrue manner
knowing that the depiction was false, or without any reasonable grounds
for believing it to be true."
The actor alleges that he was painted as a "cold-hearted opportunist"
and that he was "greatly damaged" by Tonken's "outrageous lies." He is
seeking damages of no less than $2 million in addition to his court
costs.
With Friends having completed its final season, it's important for
Schwimmer to keep his nice-guy reputation intact. (Past film projects
such as The Pallbearer and Kissing a Fool didn't exactly do much for his
big-screen credibility.)
So far, the actor has announced plans to direct his first full-length
feature, a comedy titled Run, Fat Boy, Run, due to start shooting next
spring. He's also slated to helm several episodes of Matt LeBlanc's
Joey, having honed his directorial skills on the set of Friends, where
he oversaw 10 episodes.
He'll also play the title role in the indie comedy Duane Hopwood
opposite Janeane Garofalo and is set to voice a giraffe in the animated
film Madagascar. Both projects are due out next year.

'Joey' Hits Ratings Highs in First Solo Flight
September 10, 2004
From: NBC.com
NEW COMEDY WINS BIG, ACHIEVING THE HIGHEST 18-49 RATING FOR ANY
PREMIERING 8 P.M. COMEDY ON ANY NETWORK IN EIGHT YEARS, HIGHEST ON NBC
IN 14 YEARS
BURBANK, Calif. -- September 10, 2004 -- The premiere of the new comedy
"Joey" delivered dramatic numbers last night, including the highest
adult 18-49 rating for a debuting 8 p.m. comedy on any network in eight
years and the highest on NBC in 14 years, according to preliminary "fast
national" in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research..
"Joey" totally dominated its time period, easily doubling its nearest
competitor in adults 18-49 and delivering the highest rating for any
non-sports telecast on any network since the May sweep.
From 8-8:38 p.m. ET, the premiere of "Joey" (7.5 rating in adults 18-49,
18.6 million viewers overall) hit the highest 18-49 rating for a
premiering 8 p.m. comedy since Sept. 16, 1996 (CBS' "Cosby") and best on
NBC since Sept. 10, 1990 ("The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"). "Joey" more
than doubled its closest competitor in adults 18-49 (7.5 in fast
nationals vs. a 3.3 for ABC's football pre-game show, according to "fast
affiliate-based" ratings) and ruled all key ratings categories during
the time period.
With some male viewers temporarily unavailable due to the atypical
competition of ABC's NFL football season-opener, "Joey" exhibited
particularly strong female appeal, delivering an 9.3 rating among women
18-49, a 10.1 among women 25-54 and an 9.1 among women 18-34.

Q: When did you start watching Friends?
A: I started watching Friends when I was pretty young. I remember
watching it every night when I was about 10. I think that’s when the
obsession started.Q: Why do you like it?
Q: Why do you like Friends?
A: Friends is a great show with great writers. They keep you interested
and jokes are all up-to-date. It’s not always just about love but other
problems people deal with. Every night, I watch one of my DVD’s to fall
asleep to. It’s there every night and it’s comfortable. I also like the
actor’s and actresses in the show. They are all so talented.
Q: Who's your Fave Friend?
A: I love David Schwimmer so I would probably have to say Ross. On the
show he’s just so funny. I always love the episodes where he gets all
crazy because David Schwimmer is just so good at playing those parts. I
also love Ross and Rachel together.
Q: Fave Episode?
A: Wow this one is a really hard one to decide. I do like one’s with
Ross and Rachel together i.e. “The One Where Ross and Rachel...You
Know.” I like “The One With All The Thanksgivings” because they go back
in time and they all look pretty funny then.
Q: How obsessed are you?
A: I am very obsessed. I have all the seasons (1-7). I also have The
Series Finale limited edition DVD. I also have the Friends ‘Til The End
collector's book as well as a special addition magazine. I also have the
Friends Party Pack. My computer is full of pictures and I have made
millions of collages and put them in my binders and walls. I’ve seen all
episodes millions of times, and I always talk about Friends it sometimes
drives my friends crazy. Everyone I know also knows about my obsession.
Q: Friends related fact:
A: For May 6th I had a small party for Friends. Some of my friends and I
got together. We had a “Joey Special” (two pizzas) and Central Perk
Coffee. For dessert we also had flan. We were being characters also! One
of my friends and I just started bawling right when the theme song came
on. That whole night was full of crying and screaming at the TV.
Q: Have you been to a taping or met a Friend?
A: No I wish I could have. Someday I hope I can see the Friends set. I
also hope I can meet a Friend. When I get older I am destined to. I have
had a dream though that I was one of the Friends and we were going
through the ending of the series.
