David Schwimmer Belated Birthday Special
Past Friends Thanksgiving Episodes

News

Happy Thankgiving to our American readers.

Jennifer Aniston's thriller Derailed is now in theaters in the US.
Warning there are some disturbing scenes in this film, but still very
enjoyable, just be prepared.

David Schwimmer's birthday was Nov. 12, he turned 39.

There is a new Friends product on the market besides DVDs, a Friends
video game out called Friends: The One With All the Trivia. It's
available for both the PC and for Playstation 2. The video game is a
question and answer based game using over 600 clips, audio soundbites,
catchphrases from all 10 seasons. Now you can test your "Friends"
knowledge against your real friends. For more information go to:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000AMFEHM/juditmcnauafa-20/

Independent film, "Duane Hopwood," starring David Schwimmer opened on
11/11, in Philadelphia and opened at the Loews Pipers Alley Theatre in
Chicago 11/18.  David stars as Duane Hopwood, a down-on-his-luck
divorced father who works the night shift as a pit boss at Caesars
Palace in Atlantic City.  Heartsick about the demise of his marriage to
Linda (Janeane Garofolo), Duane does nothing much in his daily life but
work and drink.  When his visitation rights are threatened after he’s
caught driving while intoxicated with his daughter in the backseat,
Duane confronts the realization that the time has come to get his life
back on track before he loses everything.  It's said to be a moving and
humorous look at the limits of unconditional love, what defines a
family, and how we’re all responsible for our own happiness.

Also David Schwimmer's popular cartoon flick Madagascar is now on DVD
and VHS. For more information go to:

Actress Jennifer Aniston can be seen posing on the December 2005 cover
of GQ magazine. Aniston is the first ever GQ 'Woman of the Year', named
for her poise, grace and good humor during her breakup with Brad Pitt
this year, according to the magazine. Actor Vince Vaughn and rap artist
50 cent were also named 'Men of the Year.'

Friends Quotes

Ross: Phoebe, there is no secret, okay? I didn't propose!
Phoebe: Are you lying? Is this like that time you tried to convince us
you were a doctor?
Ross: I am a doctor!
- "The One Where No One Proposes"

Monica: Careful. Careful. Careful!
Chandler: I'll tell you what. For the rest of our lives, I'll be careful
unless told otherwise.

David Schwimmer's Belated Birthday Special

Full name: David Schwimmer

Born: November 12, 1966

City: New York, NY

Sign: Scorpio

Education: Beverly Hills High School; graduated from Northwestern
University in Evanston, Illinois a northern suburb of Chicago.

Facts about David:

* Growing up, David and his sister were only allowed to watch TV on
Saturday nights.

* In 1988, David and his friend from Northwestern University founded
Chicago's Lookingglass Theater Company, lookingglasstheatre.org (You'll
remember that our own members Dave and Alison went to see David's
directorial effort "Race" in downtown Chicago this summer)

* What goes around comes around ... Before landing the role of Ross,
David auditioned with his old classmate Jonathan Silverman (Weekend at
Bernies) for a show called 'Couples.' Jonathan got the part, but ABC
wouldn't bite. When the show was revamped for singles and titled
'Friends,' David was the first to be cast.

* After David learned that a former girlfriend had once been attacked,
he
began supporting a web site created for rape victims.

* David ended up on crutches while training for 'Steven Spielberg's
13-hour mini-series 'Band of Brothers.'

* He shares a birthdate with his mom.

Overheard:
"At my high school, it was the norm for kids to get brand-new BMWs for
their 16th birthday. I remember going to my dad around my birthday, and
I was like, 'Yes, this is it!' Then my dad had this talk with me, and I
wound up driving a big brown 1976 Chevy Impala. I couldn't park the
thing -- it had to be docked."

Past Friends Thanksgiving Episodes

Many of my favorite Friends episodes have been their Thanksgiving ones:

Season 1- "The One Where Underdog Gets Away"
Here we first discover Chandler's hang-ups about Thanksgiving and about
his parents divorce. Monica strives to make a great Thanksgiving for
everyone, even though Ross and her would have rather been at their
mom's. Joey isn't allowed home because after doing some posters for VD,
his parents won't let him come over. Phoebe doesn't have anywhere else
to go, while Rachel tries to get some money together so she can be
skiing with her family in Vail. Seems easy enough? But no... Chandler
won't eat Turkey. Ross, Phoebe and Joey all want their potatoes done a
certain way, and Rachel is stuck in NY once they are locked out of their
apartment watching the Underdog float fly loose through the city. By the
way Monica's turkey gets burnt.

CHANDLER: "I'd like to propose a toast. Little toast here, ding ding. I
know this isn't the kind of Thanksgiving that all of you all planned,
but for me, this has been really great, you know, I think because it
didn't involve divorce or projectile vomiting. Anyway, I was just
thinking, I mean, if you'd gone to Vail, and if you guys'd been with
your family, if you didn't have syphilis and stuff, we wouldn't be all
together, you know? So I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm very
thankful that all of your Thanksgivings sucked."
ALL: "That's so sweet."
ROSS: "And hey, here's to a lousy Christmas."
RACHEL: "And a crappy New Year."
CHANDLER: "Hear hear!"

Season 3- "TOW the Football"
This episode is absolutely hysterical! We have the "Geller Bowl"-- a
good ole football game among friends, and later Boys VS Girls! Did I
mention that Phoebe flashes Chandler, Monica tackles Chandler and Ross,
Ross pulls down Monica's pants and Rachel gets pooped on by a bird. The
sports music playing in the background is great.

Chandler: "Guys! Guys! Come on! It's Thanksgiving, it's not important
who wins or loses. The important thing is, (to Joey) the Dutch girl
picked me! Me! Not you! Holland loves Chandler! Thank you, Amsterdam!
Good night!!"

Season 4- "TOW Chandler In the Box"
Need I say more? Monica is wearing an eyepatch and is considering dating
Richard's son. The gang start picking their secret santa's, Ross and
Rachel fight, and....Chandler's in a box to prove his friendship to
Joey.

Season 5- "TOW The Thanksgiving Flashbacks"
Don't we just love when the Friends cast flashes back? We get to see
Monica in a fat suit, Chandler and Ross being even dorkier and bad
fashions! Well this time we see Chandler as a little kid hearing about
his parent's divorce at the Thanksgiving dinner table.
Chandler: "No-no-no! I am the king of bad Thanksgivings. You can't just
swoop in here with your bad marriage and take that away from me."
Phoebe flashes way back to Thanksgiving 1862 where in another life she
was a nurse on the Union battlefield who loses her arm after a bomb is
dropped. Very weird. Meanwhile Joey gets a turkey stuck on his head
while trying to scare Chandler. Then in the flashback to Thanksgiving
1987, we learn that Monica has always had a thing for her brother's
college friend, Chandler. However, at the time he isn't that impressed
by her. A year later, she slims down
and makes a plan to make Chandler suffer, but it doesn't quite work out
the way she planned. Instead he loses his toe. The best part is seeing
the guys dressed up in 80's clothes!
Plus back to the present day, Monica puts a turkey on her head to
apologise to Chandler for the whole toe cutting incident and Chandler
kind of admits that he loves her. Too cute!

Season 6- "TOW Ross Got High"
The episode starts off with-
Monica: (on phone) "Okay, great! Bye. (Hangs up as Chandler enters.) So
guess who's coming to Thanksgiving dinner?"
Chandler: "Sidney Poitier? Hehheh."
Instead of Mr. Poitier, Monica's parents join in on the turkey feast.
Ross and Joey want to leave early to hang out with the hot dancer girls.
Phoebe has weird dreams about Mr. Geller and Jack Cousteau. We discover
that Monica's parents do not like Chandler because they think he smokes
weed after Ross told them that back in college. Rachel Makes an English
Trifle with beef!
Then a bunch of confessions get let loose:
Ross: "Monica and Chandler are living together!"
Monica: "Ross married Rachel in Vegas! And got divorced! Again!!!!"
Phoebe: (joining in) "I love Jacques Cousteau!"
Rachel: (reading the recipe magazine, finally figuring out that...) "I
wasn't supposed to put beef in the trifle!"
Joey: (pounding the table) "I wanna gooooooo!"
Mrs. Geller: (rubbing her temples) "That's a lot of information to get
in thirty seconds! Alright Joey, if wanna leave, just leave. Rachel, no
you weren't supposed to put beef in the trifle. It did not taste good.
Phoebe, I'm sorry, but I think Jacques Cousteau is dead. Monica, why you
felt you had to hide the fact that you were in an important relationship
is beyond me."

Season 8- "The One with the Rumor"
Brad Pitt joins the gang for Thanksgiving dinner to serve up a side dish
of revenge. Jennifer Aniston's hubby appears as a once-fatty, now-hottie
high-school friend of Ross's who still has an axe to grind with his
former teen tormentor, Rachel. When an unknowing Monica invites him over
for the holiday, the ex-butterball jumps at the chance to ruffle some
feathers by spilling some secrets during dinner, including his unlikely
ally Ross who helped start a rumor that ruined Miss Green's dating
career back in the day. They said that she had a teeny weenie.
Meanwhile, Joey vows to leave no leftovers uneaten; and Phoebe and
Chandler cook up a football scam to avoid having to help out in the
kitchen.

Season 9 - "The One with Rachel's Other Sister"
Guest Star Christina Applegate appears in this episode as Rachel's other
selfish sister. On the eve of Thanksgiving, Rachel has a bone to pick
with her second, more self-centered sister who ruins everyone's holiday
dinner with her uncensored observations, but the guest recoils when
Rachel informs her that she would never allow her sis to raise her baby
if she and Ross were to die. Likewise, Chandler is offended when he
learns what his pecking order would be in inheriting little orphan Emma,
while obsessive Monica can only laser-focus on protecting her good
wedding china, which she claims she would only use for the Queen.
Elsewhere, Joey forgets to join his soap-opera cast mates in the Macy's
Parade.

Season 10 - "The One With The Late Thanksgiving"
Monica is asked to create a Thanksgiving feast for the gang but becomes
furious when they all arrive late. Ross and Joey go to a Rangers hockey
game before hand and Phoebe and Rachel take Emma to a baby beauty
contest causing them to be late, the food to get cold and
Chandler's "Chanberry sauce" to um be the same. The Bings who are
insulted and angry, deny their famished guests entry to their apartment.
The four outcasts then shove their heads through the barely open door
and plead their innocence. Meanwhile Chandler and Monica are anxiously
waiting to hear back from the adoption agency and recieve good news by
the end of the show! yea! Unfortunately this was our last Thanksgiving
with the cast of Friends :( .
