Surprise! Just when you thought we were gone forever, we pop back into
your mailbox with some news on the cast of Friends, just in time for
Valentine’s Day and Jennifer Aniston's birthday.
News
Today is Jennifer Aniston's birthday, she turns 39. Happy birthday!
Courteney Cox returns for a second season of "Dirt" on March 2nd on the
FX channel. It's indeed dirty, but also very addictive. I was hooked
last year. If you’ve missed some episodes, you can get caught up on the
first season now on DVD:

Matthew Perry teams up with former girlfriend Lauren Graham for a family
comedy called “Birds of America.” A regular guy struggles with a
repressive home and professional life, as well as making amends for the
trouble his free-spirited brother and sister cause about town. Academy
Award winner Hillary Swank also co-stars. It already debuted at the
Sundance Film Festival and should be out later in the year.
Lisa Kudrow currently co-stars in the film “P.S. I Love You” also with
Hillary Swank.
Perry’s show "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" might have been canceled
after the first season but you can still own the DVDs. I’m bummed though
since I really liked this show and the romance between Matt Albie and
Harriet. Such a good cast and witty dialogue too.

Looking for a good blog to read? Well, check out Tara’s blog, When Tara
Met Blog (www.tarametblog.com). That’s what our co-founder has been up
to post Friends Newsletters and she was even mentioned in the NY Times
and LA Times for it. She's also engaged and got her gown from the same
bridal shop that did the dresses for the episode "TOW all the wedding
dresses." Congratulations Tara, it definitely sounds meant to be.

Kudrow puts an honest 'P.S.' on her friendly, low-key life
By Donna Freydkin, USA TODAY
NEW YORK — If you happen to spot Lisa Kudrow out and about, don't woo
her with cheesy lines.
This lady isn't one for pithy repartee or frothy flirting. In her single
days, if a man hit on her, her response was "dismissive," Kudrow, 44,
says with a shrug. "It was just such obvious behavior. There's no
subtlety."
And there's certainly no delicacy to the antics of Denise, the Manhattan
man-eater Kudrow plays in P.S. I Love You, opening Friday. As Hilary
Swank's no-nonsense, single best friend, Kudrow's Denise doesn't waste
time: She asks shocked guys if they're single, gay and working.
As Denise, says director Richard LaGravenese, Kudrow is "effortless. She
not only is naturally funny, but she brings a depth of feeling and
honesty to everything she does. She's funny because she's real."
Actually, Kudrow herself might have taken a page from Denise's
plain-spoken playbook. She opted for directness when she first met her
husband of 12 years, French ad exec Michel Stern. She offered him her
phone number and suggested he call her for a game of tennis. "I wasn't
playing games."
After their net date, "I invited him to a party. He showed up, and I was
like, 'You're here!' I took his breath away with how I wasn't hiding how
happy I was to see him."
In person, there's nothing phony or affected about Kudrow. From her
outfit — a crisp, simple black suit-dress and coat — to her curious,
calm, dryly funny demeanor, she's a confident woman who listens well.
Don't get her started on the ABC reality smash Dancing With the Stars.
"I just saw my first one. I can't believe that's the craze. Sometimes
it's like watching The Lawrence Welk Show."
At home in L.A., the woman best known as ditzy Phoebe on Friends doesn't
let son Julian, 9, watch TV. But her turn on the NBC series has boosted
his social life. "He likes it because older girls at school come up to
him and say, 'Can you tell your mom I loved her on Friends?' One of them
even gave him a kiss on the cheek and said, 'Could you please give that
to your mom?' " Kudrow says, grinning. "Sure!"
Playing such an iconic cab-driving airhead hasn't been a detriment to
Kudrow, who graduated from Vassar in 1985 with a biology degree. She
nabbed an Independent Spirit Award nomination for playing an embittered
spinster in 1998's The Opposite of Sex and another Emmy nomination for
her turn as a washed-up actress in HBO's 2005 series The Comeback.
Phoebe, Kudrow says, "lightened me up. Playing dumb people is one of the
most therapeutic things you can do. It opens you up. You let your
inhibitions go and rely a little more on instinct."
As for The Comeback, "when the person who decides whether to pick up a
series or not doesn't like the series, it gets canceled," Kudrow says.
Her typical day revolves around her son, his after-school activities and
homework. Kudrow says, only half-jokingly, that she hopes to stop
working entirely when he becomes a teenager and needs more supervision.
If her life sounds normal, that's by design. There's a reason she's not
on the covers of tabloids as part of a love triangle or for being
embroiled in substance-abuse scandals.
"I don't go out. If you're going to go out, there is a possibility and,
depending on who you are, there is a probability that you'll have your
picture taken. For me, it's a possibility. If you don't feel up for
that, don't go out," she says. "You did sign up for it and you do have
to understand that. If you're going to be out in public, you have to
behave."
She's a little shocked by the antics of young Hollywood stars, who seem
to careen from club to shopping spree to rehab facility. In Kudrow's
Friends days with her five co-stars, "we had each other to hold us
accountable. We had to behave with each other. It's not anything goes.
"It's bad luck to be that successful that young. You can't handle it.
It's a lot of power and responsibility they have, and it's ruining them.
It doesn't start off where you're insisting on things. It starts off
where you express a whim, and it's delivered. And next thing you know,
their trailer is filled with red (M&Ms) because someone is dying to
please them."

Friends Valentine's Quotes
"The One With the Candy Hearts:"
Phoebe: "Cause he was creepy, and mean, and a little frightening...
alright, still, it's nice to have a date on Valentine's Day!"
Monica: "But Phoebe, you can go out with a creepy guy any night of the
year. I know I do."
Janice: "Hello, funny Valentine."
Chandler: "Hi, Just Janice."
[Monica and Rachel's apartment. Firemen are there to handle the
boyfriend bonfire that got out of control.]
FIREMAN 1: "What do we got there?"
FIREMAN 2: "A piece of something: boxer shorts, greeting cards, and what
looks like a half-charred picture--Wow, that guy's hairier than the
Chief!"
Monica: "You know, it's a really funny story how this happened."
FIREMAN 3: "It's all right. It's all right. You don't have to explain.
This isn't the first boyfriend bonfire that we've seen get out of
control."
FIREMAN 1: "You're our third call tonight."
Rachel: "Really?"
FIREMAN 2: "Oh, sure, Valentine's is our busiest night of the year."
"TOW The Unagi"
Chandler: "Okay, look I need your help, I don’t know what to get her for
Valentine’s Day."
Rachel: "Well, Valentine’s Day was like two weeks ago, so I wouldn’t get
her a calendar!"
Chandler: "(laughs) She was working on Valentine’s Day so we’re
celebrating it tonight."
Joey: "Ohh, hey! Why don’t you book a date for both of you at one of
those romantic spas?"
Phoebe: "Ooh, Joey, that’s actually a really good idea!"
Joey: "And of course, crotchless panties."
Chandler: "Well appealing as that does sound to her boyfriend (pause)
and her brother, (the camera pans to Ross flashing Joey a very evil
look; Joey gets scared) I can’t do that we promised we’d make each other
gifts this year."
