GaySask Community Values
GaySask is a community. To make sure that everyone can enjoy this virtual community, the following values and guidelines for communication form the core of our community values:
Our community is open to people of all ages, races, religions, genders, national origins, sexual orientations and points of view. We encourage diversity but we won't tolerate expressions of bigotry, hatred, harassment or abuse among participants. Nor will we tolerate threats of harm to anyone. We encourage discussion and exchange of ideas, so we prohibit defamatory, abusive, offensive and obscene statements, because they prevent healthy communication. Nothing that would alienate people will be tolerated but anything that promotes vigorous debate will be encouraged.
This community is a part of the larger Canadian community and all of the laws of speech and conduct for Canada apply here too. All participants will respect the law or forfeit the right to participate. In the online environment, the most relevant laws are those concerning:
copyright, intellectual property and trademarks;
fraud, impersonation, and misrepresentation; and
defamation, slander, and all forms of harassment and personal attacks.
Members of this community may sometimes challenge, but always respect, the law and one another.
No one's participation should diminish any other's opportunities to participate. Any conduct which makes it harder for any one else to enjoy the community will not be tolerated. In addition, no participant may use the community to gain unfair commercial advantage - no advertising or any other promotional activity will be allowed without prior explicit permission.
Anyone can belong to the GaySask virtual community. If you have any question or comment or wish to report a problem, your feedback is welcome.
We reserve the right to immediately terminate or suspend any participant's access to services for any conduct that GaySask in its sole discretion believes interferes with other participants' enjoyment of the community or is harmful to the interests of GaySask or other members.
If you are in doubt about appropriate behaviour, remember that:
The community is virtual: The people are real.
As in any other gathering of people, treat others with respect and with care.
This is your community. It's what you make of it.
