Hello Everyone,

Leo Balzano, my father, was diagnosed with MS about a year ago. Every
hour of every day, someone is diagnosed with MS. That's why I registered
for the Boston MS LifeLines MS Walk and that's why I'm asking you to
support my fund raising efforts with a tax-deductible donation.

Eighty-five percent of the proceeds from the walk provide help for today
and hope for tomorrow to 14,000 families affected by MS, through
education, support, advocacy, and research.

For example, with $1,000 the Chapter can fund modifications to a
person's home to make it accessible. One thousand dollars will also fund
respite care that allows a family caregiver to have time out of the
house.

Your contribution will also support the Society's research efforts,
including world-renowned local scientists who are investigating nervous
system repair and protection, pediatric MS diagnosis and treatment,
genetic underpinnings of MS, and the long-term impacts of MS.

It's faster and easier than ever to support this cause that's so
important to me. Simply click on the link at the bottom of this message.
If you prefer, you can send your contribution to the address listed
below.

National MS Society, Central New England Chapter
101A First Ave., Suite 6
Waltham, MA 02451-1115

My wife, Jill, and my son, Devin, will be joining members of my family
to show our support for my father and the cause. Any amount, great or
small, you can give helps to make a difference in the lives of people
with MS. I appreciate your support and look forward to letting you know
how I do.

P.S. Please visit www.msnewengland.org.

*******
Hello everyone.

I am just finishing off my book about Freetown and there are some other
interesting things coming up from the Crossroads. I have been getting
some new interesting stories and meeting some new groups throughout
Massachusetts. A nice update is coming, but I thought this might hold
you until then.

On Feb 10th I was part of a panel speaking on Spooky Southcoast. The
panel included several experts as well as people filing reports from the
field. Check out the show at:
http://blog.spookysouthcoast.com/2007/02/11/download-the-show.aspx and
check out the message board for evidence gathered during the night.

Thanks for your attention, and keep the stories coming.

How to Conduct a Paranormal Investigation
By: Scottie Stamper
Website: www.ghostvilletimes.com
Email: ghostvil-@yahoo.com

1. Interview the Eyewitness:
Basically, contact the people living in the haunted area and arrange an
interview.
Use this time to record information about the paranormal phenomena that
persons living in the haunted location are experiencing. An investigator
can also use this time to get basic info as to previous tenants and a
family history. Family history can be used to determine if other family
members have ever experienced paranormal activity. This is also a good
time to use your people interviewing skills to determine if in you
opinion that a person maybe lying. (body language is the key)

2. Get independent information:
Research the history of the haunted location. You may do so by going to
a library or a local courthouse. Once that is done, talk to individuals
who may have information about the location. This could be from past
tenants to local historians.

3. Investigate the Haunted Location:
Perform the actual investigation on the location.
(A.) Make sure to allocate enough time to do the investigation. A good
standard is to use 30-60 minutes per room.
(B.) Tour the location so as to familiarize yourself with the location
in general. Use this time to determine if non-paranormal items may be
masquerading as ghostly phenomenon. Examples could be drafty windows or
old water pipes that may cause knocking sounds at night.
(C.) Setup your equipment. Test your equipment to make sure that
everything is functioning correctly. Document the condition of the
equipment before and after an investigation. Testing and documentation
can be used to determine if equipment has been tampered with at the end
of an investigation. A general hint during this phase of the
investigation is to make sure to use different recording media
(cassettes) in each room. This will simplify the review process, and if
disaster strikes and a tape fails or is erased, the other recordings
will still be usable.
(D.) Document not only the recording of your equipment, but also the
observations of you and those assisting you.
(E.) Once done, go back through your notes and equipment readings so as
to check for any paranormal phenomena. Remember to compare your findings
with eyewitness accounts. If something paranormal is found, have other
group members examine it, and then make conclusions. The conclusions of
others can help greatly in determining the validity of a phenomenon.
(F.) Decide if the area needs another visit. If so, on the return, go
through the steps listed above again, and investigate the site again.
Main thing is to never take anything for granted.
(G.) Make sure to follow all of your leads. Take all the information
that you have gathered, and see how it all fits together. Make sure that
you have interviewed all parties involved and researched all pertinent
documentation that relates to the haunting.

4. Conclude the investigation:
This is when you conclude the investigation.
(A.) First off, make the decision that yes this is a legitimate
paranormal occurrence, or that yes this is a hoax. You will also
summarize your findings at this point.
(B.) Secondly file all the information for future reference. Make sure
to label and date the info.
(C.) Lastly, inform the people involved with the findings.

TRUE EXPERIENCES

More Than Five Senses
Written and submitted by: Cathi Owen

It is nighttime and my mother is in the kitchen, doing the dishes. I am
in the living room, sitting at the coffee table, coloring in one of my
coloring books. Mom asks me to go to the bathroom, and get the cup that
we rinse our mouths out with, so that she can wash it. Without any
hesitation, I get up from the table and shuffle off to the bathroom.

I switched on the light, grabbed the cup off the sink, and turned around
to exit the bathroom. I switched off the light, and not even two steps
into the hallway, I froze.

My entire body became rigid. My ankles felt like they had two-ton
anchors chained to each of them. My feet felt as if they had become a
permanent fixture to the floor, almost part of the original
construction. I experienced a cold sensation run down my back, and my
stomach dropped. Then, I felt this compelling need to look over my
shoulder.

When I did, I could see a man standing at the end of our bathroom.
Although, when I say I could see him, it wasn’t how you normally see
someone. I could also see our bathroom window and wall that was behind
him, right through him. He was a tall man, although I suppose any man
looks tall to a five-year-old child. The top of his head, started just
below our mint green valance. He had dark hair and was Caucasian. His
face was expressionless, yet stern. He wore a flannel shirt. It wasn’t
the soft and wooly type, but stiff and sleek. His blue jeans were
threadbare and ragged. I don’t recall the type of shoes he had on,
because by this point of my head to toe scan, terror had overridden.
His clothes and his entire presence reminded me of looking at a picture
window with sheers hanging over it. He was quite transparent in nature.
I opened my mouth, inhaled deeply, and screamed, “Moooommmmyyy!”
Nothing. I took another deep breath, and again I tried, “Moooommmmyyy!”
Nothing.

I could not get any sort of sound out, besides a slight wheeze. I
wanted to run and break free, yet my feet were still a part of the
construction to the floor. Absolute terror flooded throughout my body,
as he slowly began to walk towards me. I was paralyzed! My fingers and
arms became limp, as I dropped the glass. “Oh, please help me! Help
me!” I cried out in vain.

Soon after, my mother called from the kitchen, “Cathi, what are you
doing?”

Almost instantaneously, my feet became mine again. The two-ton anchors
chained to my ankles were broken. I had broken free! I ran as fast as
I could to my mother, crying. “What’s wrong?” she asked with an
empathetic look of terror in her eyes. “Mommy! Mommy!” finally, my
voice had returned, “There is a guy in our bathroom!” Horrified my
mother asked, “What? Slow down.” With even more urgency, I repeated,
“There is a guy in our bathroom!” “Wait here. I will go and look.”

I know my mother was scared, but she wanted to be brave for me. I stood
in the kitchen shaking and petrified. Fearful that this guy would get
mommy, I could see the light from the bathroom illuminate the hallway
for a brief moment. Then it went back off.

To my relief, my mom came walking into the kitchen peacefully. “Cathi,
there is no one there,” she tried to reassure me.

I insisted that she check all the rooms and closets in the house,
including the hot water heater closet, in the hallway. After a thorough
inspection of the house, there was no one to be found anywhere. This
resulted in complete confusion for me. Where did he go? Who was he?
What did he want?

That fleeting experience I had with my sixth sense changed my life.
Sometimes, to this day I still get an urgency to run when I turn off a
light switch, and leave a dark room behind me. My body can feel the
terror run through it again. My heart will still race, and my stomach
gets a strange pit in it. However brief the sensation is, it still
comes to me.

I had many other experiences, similar to this one, throughout my
childhood and into adolescence. From the ages of five to eight, I
remember waking up in the middle of the night to find that I wasn’t
alone. This did not happen every night, but on somewhat of a periodical
basis. My mother knew that I liked to sleep with a night-light on, but
in retrospect, I wonder if it became their invitation.

Many times, I would wake up and get the feeling of someone looking at
me. I would roll over in my bed, to look behind me, and someone would
be standing by my bed. Other times I would look, and someone would be
sitting at the foot of my bed, looking at me. I would watch as their
mouths moved, but I just could not “hear” their words. These men and
women, I would see, had the same transparency about them that the man in
my bathroom had. Although, my level of fear wasn’t the same. Each time
I became less apprehensive. Most of the time, I would roll back over
and return to sleep. Occasionally, I would stare back at them. I
didn’t feel threatened, rather curious.

We moved from that house when I was eight, and I thought I had left the
dark hour visitors behind. In no way was that the case. Even though
they paid a visit less frequently, drop-ins continued until early
adolescence.

Since these unexplainable experiences, I have found belief in the
supernatural. I think that as a young child all of my senses were still
open to other realms of energy. When I think about it now, I wish I
would have tried to communicate with my guests. I am not sure if I
could have heard them that I would have wanted to hear what they had to
say. Who knows, it could have been interesting. Today, as an adult, I
feel enlightened, more free, and open to new ideas. For a very long
time, I thought that these dusk to dawn visits were normal, and then I
realized that others thought it was crazy. Many others may still be
skeptics of ghostly encounters, but I am now a believer.

What is interesting about my experience in the bathroom is that I
couldn’t move until I heard my mother’s voice. It is possible that my
mother’s voice offered me a sense of protection and safety, as a child.
I was able to break free of my paralyzing fear, with just the sound of
her voice. She was my exclusive protector, and still is.

Nonetheless, I will never forget the day I saw that man in our bathroom.
My mother will never forget the day that she didn’t.
