October / November / December 2006
Dear praying friends,
Greetings once again from Thailand in the Name that is above every
name!
We saw 18 souls make professions of faith in Christ during this last
Quarter of 2006!
Our daily hour long "Word of Life" gospel radio program
continues to broadcast the Gospel into our area and into the closed field
Laos each and every day. In December our computer conked out so we
had to purchase a new one for the Radio Ministry. It is required to
make CD recordings for the radio station to broadcast over the air.
This was another expense that we could not afford that we are trusting
the Lord to provide for through the churches. Please continue to
pray for the finances of this and our other ministries.
As previously reported, October was a very active month with 3 camps and
a large funeral. I was able to preach a clear Gospel message at the
funeral of Brother Thay, one of our members. I know he would
have wanted this. There were about 200 of his mostly Buddhist
friends and family in attendance. Please pray for the scores of
people that heard the Gospel, some for the first time, that God will
continue to work in their hearts. Thay left his young wife behind
to care for 3 beautiful children. Thay's wife, Ruth, loves the Lord
and serves Him faithfully. Ruth, and her 3 children moved back from
a city about 3 hours away and are now with us here in Nong Khai
again. Please be in much pray for them.
One of the camps was our annual Bible Conference that considers with the
Dragon Fire Ball Festival. We passed out about 20,000
tracts to the multitude that came to see the dragon fire balls ascend out
of the Mekong River.
We have been able to distribute many Bibles to believers and other people
who have expresses a strong interest courtesy of Bible Education And
Missionary Service
(BEAMS). Praise God
for their ministry!
Our Sunday morning services for both works averaged 51 for the last
Quarter of 2006. We had a high day in Phon Phisai on 31 December
with 83 for our
birthday party for Jesus. We had two saved that day and one
saved in Nong Khai on the previous Sunday with 17 in attendance at that
special service.
We have in 7 villages that we preach at regularly. We have a few
members (28 all together) from each of these villages that pick up on
Sundays to meet with us in our work in the town of Phon Phisai. Two
45 minute one way trips are requires to pick up all the members and
visitors. Our little 3 wheeled buses are not that sturdy so I need
to continue to keep it on your minds that we really do need a good
reliable pick-up for this purpose, and in order to make long distance
visits to other believers and contacts. In the 19 years of my ministry
here in Thailand we have never had a vehicle except our little buses, nor
have we ever had a permanent facility. Please continue to pray for
these needs.
The Bible correspondence school processed 75 lessons for 48 students.
Our daughter, Psalm, finished her first semester of Bible college at
Independent Baptist College in Fort Worth, Texas in December with a 3.9
GPA!!! We are very proud of her! She's now about to begin her
second semester. Please keep her and our State side expenses in your
prayers too.
Please bear with me again as I reiterate that my vision for expanding the
radio ministry, for purchasing property for a permanent facility and for
a good pick up truck are all still on hold. Let me ask the churches that
we visited in late 2005 and the first half of 2006 when we were in the
States (our first furlough is 7 years) to seriously consider taking us on
by faith for support. We really do need much more support. Help us
to be a blessing to the people of Thailand and Laos.
"Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the Word of the Lord may have
free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we
may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not
faith." (2 Thess 3:1-2)
Yours for Thai and Laotian Souls,
John Henry
