Dear Pastor and praying friends,
Greetings in the Name that's above every name.
Thanks you for your faithful prayers! God continues to bless the
works here in Nong Khai Province! We continue to thank the Lord for
souls that are being saved! We are sure that this is partly, a
large part, because of your prayers. Thanks so much for praying for
us, and please continue! This prayer ministry of yours cannot be
overemphasized (Please read: Matt 21:22; Col 4:2-4; 1 Thess 5:17; 2
Thess 3:1-2; James 5:16; 1 Pet 4:7).
SPECIFIC PRAY REQUESTS: 1.) I had intended to return to the
States to bring Psalm back to Thailand soon, but the Lord blessed in that
Psalm's Church, Metropolitan Baptist in Forth Worth, Texas, sent her to
learn from and work with Missionaries Tom and Krinny Gaudet in
Bangkok. The Gaudet's are sent out of the same Church as
Psalm. She arrived on June 8th and Sue and visited them in Bangkok
on the 14th and 15th. The Gaudet's are involved in a massive
literature and video ministry primarily to Asia, but also to other
countries. I am sure Psalm will be a great asset to their ministry,
especially in that she speaks and writes Thai and has been involved in
ministering to the Thai and Laotian people (soul winning and teaching)
for many years already. Please pray for her and the
Gaudet's. We are very proud of Psalm for her good grades at
Independent Baptist College and for helping to support herself by working
when studying there in Fort Worth! 2.) I would like for you
to especially pray for my Thai Visa extension. Since I now don't
need to go get Psalm in the USA, I intend to extend my last 90 day Thai
Visa for one year. Prior to our last furlough I was able to
extended my visa like this for 7 straight years and spent all that time
in Thailand, except for 4 months to raise funds for our radio ministry.
The Thai Government requires greater proof of ability to support my
family to extend the visa now. Pray that I will be able to
meet this and any other new requirements they may have in order to get an
Annual Visa. 3.) Since we went to the States 2
years ago to raise much needed support, the value of the US Dollar has
dropped more than 20% against the Thai Baht. This canceled out the
new support we raised while on furlough. We were once on a radio
station that reached millions, but due to the cost we had to go to a
cheaper station that now only reaches a few tens of thousands; we
still have zero to purchase a pick-up truck and nothing for a permanent
facility. We are still literally living and working hand to mouth
each month. We are use to this and are able to do it and still
produce fruit, but think what could be done if we were able to get to our
contacts that live long distances (i.e. New works and eventually
churches) and if we were able to expand the radio ministry.
Pray for our support to increase.
SPECIAL EVENTS: 1.) English Camp: The camp began
during the last few days of last quarter and ended on the first day of
this quarter on April 1st. On that day 19 youngsters and teens made
professions of faith in Christ. The Camp had a total of 36 in
attendance. Eight of the 19 who professed Christ have been faithful
to church throughout this Quarter. 2.) Ladies
meetings: On Saturday, June 30th we had ladies meetings in 3
different villages. In Noon Sawan we had 15 ladies, in Na Peng Noi
we had 13 and Ban Pur there were 12 ladies. Sue and Pastor Oie's
wife, Bpok, did an outstanding job of team teaching. They mostly
taught our members, but there were 2 lost ladies who heard the Gospel at
the first meeting, but did not receive the Lord.
SALVATIONS, BAPTISMS & ATTENDANCE: 1.) During this
Second Quarter we led a total of 28 souls to Christ. 2.)
Brother Oie baptized 4 believers in the Mea Khong River on April
29th. On that day we had a combined meeting of both works in Phon
Phisai. Of those baptized, 3 were from the Nong Khai work and 1 was
from Phon Pisai. 3.) Church Attendance: The average Sunday
morning attendance for both works was 50. Nong Khai averaged 17
(Adults: 9, Teens: 2, Kids: 6). Phon Phisai averaged 33 (Adults:
15, Teens: 3, Kids: 15). The average Wednesday evening attendance
in Nong Khai remained at 14 (Adults: 9, Teens: 1, Kids: 4). The
high day for Nong Khai was 25 on Sunday, 6 May. The high day in
Phon Phisai was 58 on Sunday, 1 April. Please continue to pray for
village preaching and tract distribution efforts also.
RADIO & ESAN BAPTIST BIBLE INSTITUTE: The correspondence
school processed 81 lessons for 61 students this Quarter. We
continue to broadcast the Gospel of Jesus Christ into Communist Laos
daily. We have recently produced 45 programs of John and Romans and offer
a free John / Romans Scripture portion in every program. Pray for souls
to be saved through our correspondence school and through our Word of
Life Radio Program. Pastor Oie and Brother Somsak continue to
preach, witness and lead well. Continue to pray for us all.
Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free
course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: and that we may be
delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.”
(2 Thess 3:1-2)
Yours for Christ and Thai & Laotian Souls,
John Henry
