EVIL BEASTS

             The Cretians are always . . . EVIL BEASTS . . . This witness
is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the
faith. -- Titus 1:12

Can Bible believers be EVIL BEASTS? In order to answer such a
question, one needs only to witness some petty doctrinal dispute in a
college, fellowship, E-mail list, certain Baptist business meetings, or ask
certain Christian wives about their husbands. Yes, indeed, they can! We
have read about and even personally witnessed both street preachers and
indoor pulpiteers who become incensed, when their inconsistent, poorly
thought out, carelessly studied, dogmatic theories and practices are
challenged or gainsaid. When disagreed with, they lose all self control and
are driven into almost unbelievable railings, rantings, demagogic tirades,
raw carnality, and displays of egomania. After promoting their
self-appointed absolutes and newly invented theories, they proceed to
attack the subjects that they are supposed to be saving or illuminating.
Much like Jehovah’s Witnesses, they press their issues until they are
retaliated against and then rejoice that they have been persecuted for Jesus.
Such irresponsibility, immaturity, and lack of wisdom (under
the guise of contending and suffering for the faith) usually work against
the truth rather than for it. It also works against those who responsibly
try to defend the word of Cod and contend for the truth and faith once
delivered to the saints, which it declares. Not very much is accomplished
by these overzealous evil beasts, except to make merchandise of newly
converted, unstudied, and gullible Christians, who are not permitted to
search and test the beast’s proposition by the scriptures, converts, who
mistake such carnal impetuousness, arrogance, and egotism as spiritual
boldness and bravery.
Spiritual BULLIES conducting sideshows (resembling the old
time Pentecostal preachers and their tent scams) use all the tricks of the
trade to get folks to submit to their will rather than to the word of God.
They love to employ “Gypsy Smith” hand shows to suppress any dissent that
might develop toward their preposterous propositions. Any slowness to
submit to the evil beast’s WILL or any attempts to think over their
assumptions is met with implications that the hearer’s salvation and
credibility as a Bible believer are in question, the same hinging on total
agreement with the evil beast’s INNUENDO. Non hand raisers are insulted and
abused with carnal names (wimps, sissies, cowards, jackasses, Bible
Correctors, Jesuit priests, and so forth) in an effort to embarrass them
into submitting to the newly elected FOURTH person of the Trinity.
Their techniques are rather simple. SHOCK the subjects into
submission, regarding a supposed religious proposition (with or without a
“hint” of Scriptural basis) by shouting loudly and forcefully an almost
unbelievable declaration with an air of utmost certainty. The hearers will
not usually have an immediate refuting authority at their disposal and
will reason that someone would not dare to be so bold as to utter such a
thing except it be true. Arguments must be presented in a rapid, high
pressure discourse (sometimes in Kentucky Windsucker fashion), demanding
instant agreement, so that the hearers will not be able to reason nor
search out the implications of such a proposition. Dissidents are to be
attacked, railed on, and insulted along with any individual of any stature
that might be of some influence or notoriety within the audience. Capture
and imprison the will of the audience by passing up their minds!
Spiritual BULLIES and demagogues usually identify with weird
doctrinal fantasies that range from the ridiculous to the preposterous,
some of which we have heard lately. Such extremes are the rule rather than
the exception with a new breed of evil beasts, who are not content to live
peaceably with the more orthodox and traditional brethren (in the good
sense) and being unwilling to prove all things. Paul did not abuse and
insult brethren of good report and doctrinal fidelity into submission to
his truth. He reasoned and convinced them from the scriptures. The Bereans
were not jackasses for searching the scriptures to see whether the things
were so; they were more noble.
Naturally, we are not talking about earnestly contending for
the faith nor marking those, who cause divisions contrary to the doctrine
we have learned nor exposing heretics and apostates, and compromisers. We
are talking about the sensationalist evil beasts with the new light, who
demand that everyone line up with their petty, new light doctrines.

Note: Originally, when this article was first written, these then current
absurdities were being insisted upon:

1. Jesus had to be redeemed in hell for our sins plural as only our sin
singular was taken care of at the cross.
             2. The Holy Ghost and the Holy Spirit are not One in the same.
             3. The Holy Ghost is really Melchisedek.
4. If you had the body of Jesus in your hands at the sepulcher, you would
have God
in your hands, because God the Word was “made” flesh!   --John 1:14
