HOLY GHOST AND HOLY SPIRIT DIFFERENT

If both sides of any controversial issue are afforded a fair
hearing, the truth, as cream, will eventually rise to the top. Most saints
will embrace the most logical position with the most scriptural rationale,
if for nothing more than to avoid the embarrassment of a wrong position. Of
course, there are always diehard holdouts (too proud to change their
position), who express anger and hostility to anyone, who would dare
question, challenge, or differ with them.
Certain well intentioned "new light" has appeared in the last
few decades, which attempts to defend the KJB and to answer the cults'
arguments with imaginative pat answers. Unfortunately, such doctrines by
inference are forced even upon other King James Only Bible believers even
questioning, challenging, and/or intimidating their loyalty to the King
James Bible. Yet, intimidating old timers is hard (even with bully
tactics), who predate such new light, who have had to defend the English
Bible and the faith the hard wayprecept upon precept, line upon line, line
upon line, precept upon precept, here a little, and there a little! The new
light premise, with which we must now explore and test, is that the Holy
Ghost and the Holy Spirit are two different, distinct Persons.

The Old Testament by the New

For David himself said by the Holy Ghost . . .    -- Mark 12:36

And it was revealed unto him (Simeon) by the Holy Ghost . . . -- Luke 2:26

. . .the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before . . . -- Acts 1:16

. . .ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. --
Acts 7:51

. . .Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias . . .    -- Acts 28:25

The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest
of all was not yet made manifest . . . -- Heb. 9:8

Some insist that the Holy Ghost must be distinct and different
from the Holy Spirit. One reason given to support such an idea is the claim
that the Holy "Ghost" cannot be found in the Old Testament. Yet the Holy
Ghost certainly can be found in the Old Testament, and one need only read
the New Testament. David and Isaiah both spake by the Holy Ghost. As
Stephan's persecutors resisted the Holy Ghost, so did their Old Testament
spiritual ancestors ALSO resist the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost of the Old
Testament signified that the way into the holiest tabernacle was not yet
manifest. The Holy Ghost revealed certain things to Simeon, when Jesus was
still a baby (still Old Testament ground, according to most students of the
Bible). Such scripture proves that the Holy Ghost and the Holy Spirit are
one and the same Person.

Holy Ghost/Spirit Dove Like Descent

. . .he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon
him:
-- Mark 1:10

And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him . . .
–Luke 3:22
The Holy Ghost, as well as the Spirit of God (the Holy
Spirit), descended like a dove at the baptism of Jesus. Such a
cross-reference proves that the Spirit of God and the Holy Ghost are one
and the same Person.

The Holy Ghost/Spirit Teacher

. . .the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of
God . . . the spirit which is of God . . . Which things also we speak .
. . which the Holy Ghost teacheth . . .                      -- 1 Cor. 2:11-13

. . .no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus
accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy
Ghost.    -- 1 Cor. 12:3

The Holy Ghost and the Spirit of God are spoken in the same
context -- teaching, enabling, and thwarting believers regarding certain
activities, proving that the Holy Ghost is the Spirit of God or Holy Spirit.

   The Holy Ghost/Spirit in Believers

But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on
him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given . . . the
Father . . . shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you
for ever; Even the Spirit of truth . . . for he dwelleth with you, and
shall be in you.                 -- John 7:39; 14:16, 17

. . . the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey
him . . . Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? -- Acts
5:32; 19:2

. . . your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you . . . -- 1
Cor. 6:19

. . . the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.   -- 2 Tim. 1:14

Will some of us go so far to say that two Persons, the Holy
Ghost and the Holy Spirit, both indwell the believer? Will some of us
declare four Persons in the Trinity as opposed to three? Will some create
still more distinct Persons from the terms "Spirit of truth, Spirit of God,
and Spirit of Christ?" The scripture teaches us that the Holy Ghost or
Spirit of God or Holy Spirit is given to, received by, and dwells in
believers, proving that the Holy Ghost or the Spirit of God or the Holy
Spirit are one and the same Person.

The Filling of The Holy Ghost/Spirit

. . .he (John) shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even
from his mother's womb.         -- Luke 1:15

. . . Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost . . .   --Luke 1:67

. . . be filled with the Spirit . . . -- Eph. 5:18

. . . be filled with the Holy Ghost.   -- Acts 9:17

The fact remains that the Old Testament saints and the New
Testament saints and the transition period saints were filled and even
commanded to be filled with Holy Ghost, even the Spirit of God or Holy
Spirit, proof that the Spirit of God and the Holy Spirit and the Holy Ghost
are one and the same Person.

The Pentecost Holy Ghost/Spirit

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to
speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. -- Acts 2:4

But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it
shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my
Spirit upon all flesh . . . I will pour out in those days of my Spirit;
and they shall prophesy . . .    -- Acts 2:16-18

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my
spirit upon all flesh . . .   -- Joel 2:28

The Holy Ghost and the Spirit, in the same context, of the
miracle of Pentecost is sufficient proof that the Holy Ghost or the Spirit
of God or the Holy Spirit, are all one and the same Person. The Old
Testament prophecy of Joel regarding the Holy Ghost/Spirit intensifies such
a proposition.
