Hope, what does it mean to you?  Ray Mutch
 Oct 30, 2006 06:59 PST

We've been asking around for people's personal definitions of what
'Hope' means to them.

I now know, although I only found out quite recently (which I must admit
is a little embarassing on my part), that the name given our
institution when it was formed (from the amalgamation of the former
colleges: S. Katherines, Notre Dame, LIHE and Christs College) was taken
from the name of the road that connects the Catholic
and Anglican Cathedrals near Liverpool City Centre, namely Hope Street.

I find it hard to believe however that there was not a very different
significance attached to the use of that word at the time it was chosen
by the people who chose it.

So what is YOUR definition of Hope..?

Why don't you let us know? And, if we get some good enlightening
responses we will consider publishing the best of them.

Ray
