"The Price of Sugar," narrated by Paul Newman, provides an eye-opening =
glimpse of life for some in the Dominican Republic. It showcases the =
lives of Haitian immigrants working in the country's sugar cane fields, =
highlighting the harsh reality of an island commonly known for its =
fabulous tourist resorts and golf courses.=20
The documentary portrays the terrible conditions in which many sugarcane =
workers live, lacking medical care, education, clean water and even =
decent housing. It focuses on the efforts of one man, Father =
Christopher Hartley, to advocate for the workers, striving to improve =
their living conditions and to help them secure basic freedoms and =
rights. But Father Harley's work is only in one area-
there are many others who desperately need your help and

The Foundation for Peace (FFP) is a not-for-profit organization that =
builds schools, churches and water filtration systems for the materially =
impoverished, working hand in hand with communities in the Dominican =
Republic, Haiti and Kenya. =20
A short film by Interink Media entitled "Glimpses of Hope" will be =
shown after the documentary. It highlights the efforts of the FFP to =
build relationships and to bring hope to the materially impoverished =
people in several bateyes (clusters of substandard housing in rural =
areas created by sugar concerns to house workers). =20
