Kwe Friends

Earlier, i had cirrculated an urgent appeal for Charlie Wolf Smoke and
his Family. It was suggested to me that hearing direcly from Charlie
would produce more authenticity and verification. i urge all of You to
respond and support this Family. By doing so, You are supporting my
Family and me, and the thousands of FN people, causulties of the failure
of north american governments to abide by the rule of law. There is just
so much to say, but i think You all know the situation quite well. i'll
include the bank account information for anyone to place donations
directly to. The account information will appear at the end of this
appeal. In Thanksgivings for Your response and support......gk

To begin with, I'll list some contact info. My cell phone is
605-441-1620, however, reception on Red Shirt Table is awful! Expect to
phone several times before even getting thru, & then expect to loose
that conection as soon as the dialogue gets interesting. There's no
phone lines for many miles from my house, so a land phone is not even
imaginable. Lisa's home number is 306-569-8357. Lisa & I have split our
kids, so to speak; I have Pankeska, Mecate, & Wanbli Win here on Pine
Ridge. She has the youngest & two oldest with her in Saskatchewan.

Right now I'm using a computer in the White Clay College Center at
Loneman (Oglala). I rarely get online these days, generally only about
once a month average. I'll try to present my situation here as clear &
conscise as possible.

At this time, propane is my top priority. 250 gallons should get me
through the winter, & filling up that tank will run around $213 (us).
Even with the propane stove & furnace, I'll still need to burn wood for
supplemental heat. A couple loads, at $75 each, would help out
tremendously. My septic tank is also quite small, & nearly to capacity
already; getting a truck out from Rapid City will cost me about $175, to
empty it. I understand what your friend mentioned regarding too-small
requests, but that, & perhaps $20 gas to get me in to Hermosa or Pine
Ridge Village to an ATM, is all I really need right now. Also, please
keep in mind, that converting canadian funds into american sacrifices
around 30% currently, I believe.

My situation, in a nut shell, is that I have been persecuted for over
two years by both canada & america for speaking my mind & standing on my
principles. This has led to everything from a death threat by a CIC
agent, to the collapse of my marriage. More recently, I have also been
involved with the protection of a Sacred Site (Onakijin - Stronghold
Table) & the remains of our ancestors buried there, & the repatriation
of that area to the control of the legal landowners, the Lakota Nation.
This has cost me a job earlier this month. (I applied for a job at
Rockyford School, received the endorsement of all 4 people conducting
the interviews, but was rejected by two board members for political
reasons.) As I mentioned, I have three of my children, but no income &
no social assistance. We are only able to eat because we get monthly
rations (government commodities). We still have to haul water & cut wood
for fuel though.

Onakijin was a safe refuge (the interpretation of "Onakijin") in the
Badlands of southwestern South Dakota just over 100 years ago for Ghost
Dancers. At that time, our religion was outlawed by the occupying
forces. During the last week of December, 1890, immediately following
the planned massacre of Ghost Dancers on Wounded Knee Creek, several of
the survivors (many badly wounded) fled to Onakijin (Stronghold Table),
where they knew other Lakota people were hiding out. Those that made it
to the camps around Stronghold Table only lived for about another two
weeks. The american army sent small pox infested blankets into the
camps, & when enough devestation was wrought from their biological
warfare, the army attacked the survivors with the help of volunteer
militia. That massacre has been hiden from public knowledge for more
than a century. When I was younger, by the way, the laws outlawing our
ceremonies was finally lifted. As you can see though, the systematic
genocide continues all the same. The Tokala Okolakiciye had to "occupy"
Stronghold Table just over a year ago, to protect the remains of our
ancestors from the american national park service.

My fight with canada came about because, in accordance with the draft
Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the UN Convention on
the Rights of the Child, the Human Rights Declaration, & the sovereignty
of the Lakota Nation, I refused to claim/accept canadian citizenship. I
then further declared that colonial states have absolutely no
jurisdiction over Indigenous people or our land. What got me in hot
water, was that people were listening!

Well, I hope that is adequate.

Thank you very much.
