Brother Parker,
I find it strange that a believer would be so presumptions as to think that
if one stands for one Scriptural principal or mandate that it would detract
from their preaching the Gospel of my Lord Jesus Christ. Sir, to insinuate
the Windsor Hills Baptist Church is not preaching the Gospel of Jesus
Christ while it also stands for the whole counsel of God is
preposterous. They have the greatest missions outreach of any church I
have ever seen. Two of Pastor Vineyard's sons are missionaries, one in the
Ivory Coast and one in the Philippines. Windsor Hills Baptist emphasize
soul winning, street preaching, preacher and Christian worker training,
etc. And if you think that Dr. Vineyard isn't attempting to win Jewish and
other souls while at the same time educating Baptist churches concerting
this important issue then I believe you are sadly mistaken.
The issue of Israel is not merely a political causes; it is a Biblical and
spiritual issue of these last days, sir.
Praise God for your grandpa, a completed Jew! And I agree that the
bloodline of the Jews is nothing compared with Christ's precious
blood. His blood is everything to lost sinners, Jews and Gentiles.
However, I am sure that you realize that God chose the decedents of
Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to be the prophets through whom He gave us our
Bible, and that He took upon Himself the flesh and blood of Israel and
David. The King of Israel is the Christians King too! The Jews are
clearly God's chosen people through whom He has spoken and it was a Jewess
through whom He was born.
Even though most of them continue in enmity against God, as all nations and
most individuals do, He does love them! But due to their greater
responsibility God has allowed Satan to destroy them because their
rebellion through the Assyrians, Babylonians, Greeks, Romans, the
Catholics, Hitler and the Russian czar, etc. No nation has been punished
more severely. However, that is God's business, not the
Christians'. Bible believing Baptists are to love our enemy, and God's
enemies (unbelievers) are our enemies. It is not our place to judge Israel
nationally. That's God's job. But God does tell me I ought to blessed
them. Period. You do want blessing over and above salvation for others
and for yourself, don't you? Therefore, this too should be one of your
Biblical focuses. We ought to preach the whole counsel of God as we are
commanded to do. I for one intend to do what little I am able to be a
friend to the nation of Israel. You should too, sir.
This being true are we not especially to love Israel and stand with them on
God's side peradventure we might win some of them. After all we also were
once the enemies of God until we trusted Christ thereby making peace with
God.
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our
Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace
wherein we stand .... But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while
we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now
justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if,
when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son,
much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life." (Romans 5:1-2,
8-10)
I, for one, do not consider "Yedidim of Israel" a political organization,
but a local church outreach to Jewish people that endorses the Biblical
mandate to bless Israel. Furthermore, I do not know that "Yedidim of
Israel" is a 501(c)3 organization.
Personally, I do not believe a church or it's ministries should be under
the government in such a way. That is why I resigned from my 501(c)3
mission board and moved my membership to an non-incorporated, unaffiliated
Baptist church a few years ago. The government should not be allowed to
dictate to the Lord's church or their preachers in spiritual matters
(Matthew 16:18; Mark 12:17; Acts 4:18-19, 5:27-31, cf 4:5-8). I don't know
either your convictions nor Pastor Vineyard's concerning church
incorporation and 501(c)3 organizations, but those are mine.
Brother Parker, the eternal future of an individual depends on what he does
with Christ. And as it was in the past so it is in these last days: The
destiny of nations depend on what they do with God's chosen nation, Israel
(Joel 3:1-2; Matthew 25:31-46). I pray we do not go the course of ancient
Babylon, Rome and Nazi Germany whose national symbol were all also the
"eagle" (Deuteronomy 28:49), or that we have anything to do with aiding and
abetting those who are like those former evil nations (i.e. Iran, Syria,
the PA, etc.), but that we rather be more like the "two wings of a great
eagle" that will fly Israel to safety during the coming Tribulation
(Revelation 12:14).
Kind Regards,
John Henry

Bro. Henry,
I am sure that you mean well by forwarding on these letters, and I have
refrained from saying anything for quite a while now.
But, I find it a bit offensive that a church- ANY church- would spend so
much time and energy in political causes rather than the cause of preaching
the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My grandpa, who was a full-blood Jew, recently
died. At his funeral, one of the men who spoke told how he used to tease
my grandpa that he wished he could be one of God's chosen people like my
grandpa. My grandpa would always tell him in reply that the thing that
really mattered was that he was a Christian- a completed Jew. Our blood is
nothing, but Christ's blood is everything.
I fully stand with the right of Israel to exist as a nation (and I have
God's Word that they will continue to be in existence no matter what the
Islamic nations try). However, that is not my focus, and it should not be
the focus of any church or pastor. My focus is the Gospel of Jesus
Christ. Only the Gospel changes lives; only the Gospel reaches and changes
minds as well. Furthermore, I believe that the political organization
"Yedidim of Israel" clearly violates the federal government rules for
501(c)3 organizations, especially since its mailing address is the same
address as the church address. I also believe that no pastor should
abbreviate the name Jehovah God as J-h G-d. Of course, that is just
personal opinion, but I think it shows more respect to reverently repeat
God's name than to hyphenate it. Let's not allow good things (such as
political issues such as the support of Israel) to keep us from the best
thing (proclaiming the Gospel).
Just thought I would say a word about it. Thank you.
