Letter to the President on Israel  John Henry
 Sep 21, 2006 09:20 PDT

September 19, 2006

Dear Mr. Bush:
You profess that you have trusted the LORD, Whom I had the privilege of
trusting 42 years ago day before yesterday.  You also state, Sir,
that you read and believe the HOLY SCRIPTURES.
Mr. Bush, let me remind you of the lessons of Psalm 127:1:  “Except
the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the
LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”
Mr. Bush, you ought be listening to your “watchmen on the wall” just as
David listened to his, back in 2 Samuel 18:24-25:  “And David sat
between the two gates: and the watchman went up to the roof over the gate
unto the wall, and lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold a man
running alone. And the watchman cried, and told the king. And the king
said, If he be alone, there is tidings in his mouth. And he came apace,
and drew near.”
Mr. Bush, the “watchmen” can only bring “good” tidings or “bad”
tidings.  In our day, just as in King David’s Day, Jeremiah’s day,
and Ezekiel’s day, there can only be “good” tidings or “bad”
tidings.
Jeremiah, the weeping prophet, whom the HOLY SCRIPTURES never declare as
having a convert, tells us in  Jeremiah 6:16-19:  “Thus saith
the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where
is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.
But they said, We will not walk therein.  Also I set watchmen over
you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will
not hearken.  Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation,
what is among them.  Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon
this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not
hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.”
Sadly, Sir, Jeremiah’s watchmanship was an intensely sad one and his song
in the minor key.  His was a divine melancholy that made his head
waters” and his eyes a fountain of tears.  The truths he saw, and
then as a True Watchman” proclaimed, were unwelcomed and brought him
enemies, but he carried out his God-Given Watchman tasks without fear or
favor.
In our days of national apostasy and with all the international strife
kicked up by the followers of the false god “allah,” there has never been
a time that preachers could not do better than live near the Book of
Jeremiah, which has, as its dominant note, “true religion” in heart and
life, in church and nation!
But, Sir, it was Jeremiah who Prophesied of Israel in the last days
saying:  “...Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love:
therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”
Mr. Bush, Ezekiel gave us Ezekiel 3:17:  “Son of man, I have made
thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my
mouth, and give them warning from me.”  The Holy Scriptures tells us
that “at even” Ezekiel’s wife “died; and I [Ezekiel] did in the morning
as I [Ezekiel] was commanded” (Ezekiel 24:18).  What a man!
What a Watchman!
This morning, Mr. Bush, the LORD woke up this 66-year-old hell-deserving
Sinner and Baptist preacher at 2:37 A.M.  As a consequence of my
earlier than usual wake-up, I have read these words in the 127th
Psalm.  Probably my greatest besetting sin is that of “temper,” Mr.
President.  Let me say to you that I have lost it twice already this
morning, and it is not yet 4:00 A.M.
We have our Oklahoma Baptist College girls dormitory not far from the
parsonage where the bride of my youth and I live in Bethany,
Oklahoma.  She is up visiting her mother in Brownsburg,
Indiana.  On the way to the office, I stopped by the girls dormitory
to visit with our “watchman,” the youngest of 5 kids, who all grew up in
the Ukraine, where their folks are missionaries out from our
Church.
Well, the girls dorm “watchman” was nowhere to be found.  I looked
all around the buildings for him.  Then, I rang the doorbell.
One of our Dorm supervisors was awakened by the bell, and he came
out.  I asked about the watchman.”  He mentioned that sometimes
the “watchman” sits in one of the cars.  I rapped on the windows of
all the cars.  “No watchman!”  Finally, I stepped up on our Bus
and woke up our “supposed watchman”!
Mr. Bush, Security?  No, Sir!  Not when the watchman is
asleep.  To say the least and leaving it at that, Sir, this
“Hell-deserving Sinner” lost his temper!
Then, Mr. Bush, here in my office at our Church, some 3 miles from the
place of my “confronting the sleeping watchman,” I read again how Tehran
is making hay” by stepping up their Uranium enrichment.  And, while
that happens, Sir, the news states that “Israel is seen to be paying the
price of its mishandling of the Lebanon war by dropping into a long
period of political and military paralysis”!  There, Sir, went my
besetting sin of temper” again, and it was not even 4:00 A.M.!
Why, Mr. Bush?  The reason is quite simple.  After Mr. Powell
shoved your wrong-way Road-Map (supposed) Peace Plan down Ariel Sharon’s
throat in April 2003, to do a 180 vis- -vis so-called “settlers”
remaining in their homes in the Gush and Shomron, or disengaging
therefrom, in Mid-Prime-Minister-ship, Mr. Sharon had to surround himself
with “hack politicians” and “apple polishing, brown nosing, skillet
lickin’” military leaders.
Those watchmen then, quite simply, Sir, could not carry the ball during
HizBallah’s campaign against the dear Israelis, as I saw firsthand from
July 31st to August 7th of this year in my visit to the front lines
during the war.
I was in Kiryat Shmona on August 3rd.  During a 90-minute period of
time that afternoon, 4:00 P.M. to 5:30 P.M., 60 (of the some 1,200
Katyusha rockets which hit Kiryat Shmona during the war) fell on that
little Northern Israel town.
My plans, Sir, are to be back there during the days of October 12-15,
2006, spending my nights with those brave sons of Hebrews in the IDF
there in Northern Israel and Southern Lebanon!  Why, Sir?  Just
to show them one Gentile Preacher really does care!!!!!
Mr. Bush, how long do you think that it will be before those Mad Dogs on
Jihad in Iran achieve Missile Delivery and Nuclear Capabilities?
Five minutes after they do, they will hit Israel and any and all US
Forces in the Middle East they can!
Let me refer you back, Sir, to the words of Benjamin Franklin, made
during the American Revolutionary War, in conjunction with the Psalmist’s
words quoted above:  “Except the LORD build the house, they labour
in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh
but in vain.”
In the beginning of the contest with Britain, when we were sensible of
danger, we had daily prayers in this room, for the divine protection. Our
prayers, Sir, were heard, and they were graciously answered.  [And,
Sir, let me tell you that they were not holding hands with some Muslim
Imam, praying, believing that Jehovah God, the only true God, was
one-and-the-same with the “false god allah.”]
All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed frequent
instances of a superintending Providence in our favor.  To that kind
Providence, we owe this happy opportunity of consulting in peace on the
means of establishing our future national felicity [which to Mr. Franklin
meant those 13 colonies were escaping the Tyranny of Evil under Great
Britain].
And have we now forgotten this powerful Friend?  Or do we imagine we
no longer need His Assistance?  I have lived for a long time
[eighty-one years]; and the longer I live the more convincing proofs I
see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of man.  And if a
sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that
an empire can rise without his aid?  [Or, Sir, can a nation remain
without His aid?]
We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings, that ‘Except the Lord
build the house, they labor in vain that build it.’  I firmly
believe this; and I also believe that without His concurring aid we shall
proceed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel:
we shall be divided by our little, partial, local interests; our
prospects will be confounded; and we ourselves shall become a reproach
and a by-word down to future ages.
And what is worse, mankind may hereafter, from this unfortunate instance,
despair of establishing government by human wisdom, and leave it to
chance, war, or conquest.
I therefore beg leave to move that henceforth prayers, imploring the
assistance of Heaven and its blessing on our deliberations, be held in
this assembly every morning before we proceed to business; and that one
or more of the clergy of this city be requested to officiate in that
Service.”
Mr. Bush, just as the “security” of those girls in our girls dormitory
was of importance to me this morning, the “security” of both the sons and
daughters of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and King David in Israel and the
security” of all those sons and daughters of Shem, Ham, and Japheth you
represent ought be as important to you in this hour of great peril free
people face because of the followers of the false god, “allah”!
May, on this Tuesday morning, September 19, 2006, you heed the wisdom of
our Founding Father, Mr. Benjamin Franklin.
Franklin did not bid the builder cease from laboring, nor suggest that
watchmen should neglect their duty, nor that men should show their trust
in God by doing nothing!  No, No, No, Mr. President!
Franklin supposed that they should do all that they could do, and then he
forbade their fixing their trust in what they had done and assured them
that all creature effort would be in vain unless the Creator, THE LORD
GOD OF ISRAEL (called that 498 times in My King James Bible) puts forth
His Power to render second causes effectual.
May the LORD GOD OF ISRAEL GIVE YOU WISDOM AS YOU CONSIDER THESE
THOUGHTS.
A hell-deserving Sinner who now (4:54 A.M. – 9-19-06) has the privilege
of serving THE SAVIOUR of all mankind, whether they be Japhethites,
Hamites, or Shemites!
