Letter from Jim Vineyard to President Bush  John Henry
 Oct 27, 2006 01:34 PDT

October 26, 2006

Dear Mr. Bush:

From News Accounts of yesterday, the liberal USA TODAY headlined a
report: "MORE TROOPS MEAN MORE TARGETS FOR SNIPERS!"

The report points out that our boys patrol in the capital on foot and
in lightly armored vehicles amid "Raging Religious Violence." Well,
after all, someone from USA TODAY finally gets the picture - IT IS A
RELIGIOUS WAR!

According to USA TODAY, Sir, there were 11 sniper attacks in January,
23 in September, and so far 36 this month. Eight of the 36 attacks
in Baghdad have resulted in fatalities. The Islamic Terrorists like
to take out our "medics," "engineers," and especially "CHAPLAINS"!

Now, Sir, isn't that one big blessing, since your Administration has
deemed itself fit to celebrate the Holy Month of Ramadan in the White
House both last year and this year?

The Article states that, "The dense city environment has given
snipers the opportunity to fire on US troops and then slip away. US
troops often can't return fire without risking civilian lives."

Yesterday, the death toll stood at 2,789 US service members and 7
Defense Department civilians as having died in the war in Iraq. So
far, in October, 91 of our Service Personnel have been Killed in Action!

The Moms and Dads, Sir, of L/Cpl Eric W. Herzberg (20), Pvt. Edwardo
J. Lopez (21), L/Cpl Clifford R. Collingsworth (20), L/Cpl Nathan R.
Elrod (20), L/Cpl Nicholas J. Manoukian (22), and Cpl Joshua C.
Watkins (25) all received the bad news this week that their sons died
in the Iraq War.

Mr. Bush, we the people of Windsor Hills Baptist Church here in
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, support our fighting soldiers 100%. And, as
a matter of fact, the Sunday after this coming one, November 5th, we
will be honoring 28 American Veterans, all the way from WWII up until
this present conflict, and 20 of the Honorable Hmong Special Guerilla
Unit Soldiers who served on America's side in the Viet Nam War.

Mr. Bush, we will have a banquet for these veterans, their families,
their friends, and previous veterans we have honored in years gone by
on Saturday night, November 4th. Then, Sunday Morning, November 5th,
we have a Special Service for the Vets.

We give each Veteran a very nice plaque with their Individual Service
Time Picture on it, a description of their type service, and the
awards which they received during that period of time. We then feed
them, their families, and their friends another very nice meal after
the morning Service. It is our most expensive weekend of the year.

However, it is one of the most rewarding things which we at Windsor
Hills Baptist have the Privilege of doing. We have done this for so
many years and honored so many locally that this is probably the
lowest number of Vets we have been privileged to honor.

On my way to Minnesota this past Monday, Sir, I saw a young
Specialist Soldier Boy in the Oklahoma City Airport. I walked up,
told him I was a veteran, told him I appreciated what he did for our
Country, and then slipped a $20 bill in his hand telling him I wanted
to buy him a meal.

On the plane to Houston there were a group of Paralyzed Veterans who
had been in Oklahoma City for a convention. A black Special Forces
Vet of Viet Nam sat in front of me. A veteran from Nebraska sat
across from me. Both were Paralyzed. I gave each of them a $100
bill telling them I appreciated their service in behalf of my freedom.

Freedom, Mr. Bush, has a taste for those who have fought and almost
died that the Protected will never really know, nor in most cases appreciate.

Therefore, Mr. President, you can see that the undersigned does
really care and understand the dilemma our fighting soldiers face.

However, I fail to understand the News Conference in the Green Zone
which General Casey, Ranking Commander in Iraq, and Ambassador Zalmay
Kahlilzad had, in which they said they were [a] pushing for creation
of a law to share oil wealth in Iraq, and [b] asking Insurgent Groups
to lay down their weapons.

Mr. President, let me recommend to you that you get all the E6's,
E7's, E8's, and E9's who are CIB recipients and put them in charge of
your Iraq War. Let General Casey sit this one out. Maybe it would
be a good time for him to go to another Business School and get
another degree in some such thing.

Let Ambassador Kahlilzad busy himself with meeting with Important
Iraqis, and let these Combat Vet NCO's take care of the dirty
business of war there on the streets of Baghdad. They will make
those City Streets somewhat safer in the long run for both our "boys"
and the Iraqis.

War, Mr. President, cannot be fought under the guidelines of
political correctness. If neighborhoods in Baghdad allow snipers to
come in and operate from their areas, then they will just have to let
these AMERICAN NCO's call the shots for what happens.

Sir, I am not a betting man, but were I one, I would give you any
odds you would like that the war Situation in Iraq would immediately
change. That change would then guarantee your party the keeping of
control of both the Senate and House, and ultimately, it will keep
Madame Hillary from being elected in 2008.

You could be a real blessing to me personally in that, Sir, as the
bride of my youth has already served notice on me that if Zipperman's
wife gets in, she and I are moving to Israel. When I moved to
Oklahoma City 29-1/2 years ago, I vowed I would never move my
furniture again. As much as I love the Hebrews in Israel, and most
of the time I think they also love me, I sure hate to move furniture,
and at 66-1/2, I am not much up to the task.

Please, Sir, listen to this short, fat, bald-headed poor-boy from the
Panhandle of your and my Texas.

A Servant of the Creator and His Creatures!

Jim Vineyard, Pastor
