Kevin,
When is the book of drawings and paintings coming out? Sadly, the librarians
where I work are only interested in popular, current literature (NY Times
Bestsellers) and little else. If we get any JK books it is a fluke, although
I do manage to weasel them into the collection whenever I get the chance. I
live in Arizona in the US and Kerouac is fairly hard to find in libraries
and bookstores alike. It's sad, really. Plus, the few that have anything
ONLY have Kerouac. There is never any Corso, Burroughs, Ginsberg...nothing.
Makes me sad and burns a great hole in my pocket when I have to purchase it
all myself. On the plus side, though, my Beat collection is growing to be
quite large. But, yeah, I'm looking forward to the art book now as much as
the journals. Thanks for leting me know about it.

Caris, yes got the advance proof thing. A perk for running my magazine.
Naturally the journals will feature big in a future issue, alongside the
book of JK drawings & paintings coming out before long. Maybe you can order
these books for the library? It will be fascinating to see the art JK book,
but he's about as much of a painter as William Burroughs was. What you
think?

Kevin,
So you must have gotten the galley. I work in a library and was hoping to
get the same thing. I'm eager to read it.

Caris, I've been sent a copy of WINDBLOWN WORLD: THE JOURNALS OF JACK
KEROUAC 1947-1954 edited & with an intro by Douglas Brinkley. Actually
includes reproductions from JK's own notebooks, his handwritten notes.
A must for all readers of Jack Kerouac.

Has anyone heard anything about the new book "Windblown" that's coming
|
out?
| | It is a collection of Kerouac's journal entries, set to be released in
October 2004. Look at the reviews on Amazon.com. Looks pretty nifty...
