The copy I read was hardcover, but I got it from the library. The book was
interesting because it showed the Beats as they are not really shown. I
mean, this book showed Burroughs and Ginsberg, among others, as they really
were towards the ends of their lives. Sam Kashner was a fan of the Beats
when the "fad" had already ran its course. So, he chronicles his
interactions with the elderly, used-to-be-famous legends. I hope that helps.
The amazon.com review is probably a lot better then mine.

What makes the book an interesting read? Is it a hardcover purchase? Or a
quic trade paper read? I think there's a difference which makes me buy or
not buy a hardcover book. Paul Maher

(published 2004). I heard it mentioned here once, so I decided to check

Thanks for the recommendation, Caris. It sounds wonderful. I've just
ordered it from Amazon.
