Hello, Marsha,
My name is Mac McCutchan. I'm no longer active in the Jessamine County
Historical Society, but sometimes I get messages addressed to them.
I'm not sure why. Anyway, I'm glad I got your message. Philonzo Fitch
had the farm adjoining that of my GGG-grandfather, John H. Hanly, on
the Kentucky River about 7-8 miles west pf Nicholasville. And he did
have a son named Chester.
My GGG-grandfather and his wife both died the year after the Civil War,
in 1866. Philonzo Fitch was the executor of John Hanly's will, and
ended up buying a good portion of the Hanly property. He gave 460
acre portion of the Hanly estate to Chester to run. Two years later,
Chester married Margaret C. Hanly, a granddaughter of John H. Hanly.
She and Chester are buried on the property. It's at the end of Fitch
Road, which branches off Route 27, just a mile or two before it crosses
the Kentucky River.
The original Fitch farm adjoins the Hanly farm.

Hi, my name is Marsha Figueroa. I am researching the Overstreet line of
my family. They are African American. I was able to find the last slave
owner for my g-g-g-grandpa and would like to see if anyone is also
researching that family. The surname is FITCH. Philonzo is named as the
slave owner. I know he had a son named Chester.
Also, to whom it may concern, the website named/linked to the Jessamine
Co Historical Society leads to a beauty site. It is ".org", should be
".com".
I would appreciate any help that's out there.
Marsha
