With silent opponents it went:
1S 2D
2N (doesn't show extras) 3C
3N 5C
Pass

How about starting as in Lawrence's 2/1: 1S - 2D; 3NT (bal. 15-17).
Doesn't that clarify the issues for responder? Say, he continues 4C
(natural and forcing). Now what?
Or, suppose 1S - 2D; 2NT shows 15-17 bal. Now responder can continue
with 3C, also natural and forcing.
Aren't these approaches better?

I think the right KS rebid for opener is 2S. 2N showing extras might be
OK since it keeps the level low enough and sets a GF. Butthe notes at
least say it shows "Extra values, 15-17, balanced with stoppers." Mote
the plural.
