Re: Responding to the weak nt with a weak hand and a 5 card major.  Leo Zelevinsky

When playing KS, I did not play transfers as per the system notes.

I think that transfers lose a lot of their appeal opposite a weak nt.

With a very weak hand and a 5 card major, I'd bid the major every time
to play - let them double me if they can.

Partner can superaccept with a doubleton and 4 card support, but that
doesn't have to be wrong either.

In my experience playing KS, I don't remember running into this as a problem.

Hi,

I'd like to know what tactic the list uses when their partner opens 1nt
and they have a 5 card major with a weak hand, say less than 6 points
I assume that the majority play transfers but maybe I am wrong.
Do they recommend bidding immediately taking the risk that partner may
superaccept and get them to the 3 level, or do they lie low and escape
only if and when the doubling starts?
Are superaccepts recommended when playing the weak nt?
