And now to the news and views:
1. The Great Indy Cleanup is this Saturday
When: April 25, 2009 8:00 a.m. until noon
Libertarians will be volunteering with KIB in the Hawthorne neighborhood
this Saturday, as part of the Great Indy Cleanup. KIB will be providing
all tools, gloves and other equipment for the Cleanup.
Volunteers will meet at the Hawthorne Community Center at 8:00 a.m,
where they will receive instructions. No experience is necessary, and
no need to bring anything, unless you have a special pair of gardening
gloves that you like to use. Make sure to wear closed-toes shoes, long
pants and weather appropriate clothing. The We Care cleanup will go on
rain or shine!
And don't forget to bring your new yellow LP shirts! We'll have more
on-site for those of you who haven't purchased one yet.
The address for the Hawthorne Community Center is 70 N. Mount Street.
It is located right off of West Washington Street, west of the
Indianapolis Zoo and White River Gardens. To get there from downtown,
follow West Washington Street past the Indianapolis Zoo and White River
Gardens. After you pass Belmont Avenue, Mount Street will be the fourth
street on your right. Take a right onto Mount Street, and The Hawthorne
Community Center is a large brick building on your left, at the corner
of Mount and Ohio Streets. Park anywhere on the side of the street, or
in the parking lot of the community center, which is located off Ohio.

2. The Liberty 400 Challenge throws down the gauntlet this Saturday
The Liberty 400 Challenge is about what 400 people can do to help the
Libertarian Party of Marion County.
In 2007 the LP candidate for Mayor Fred Peterson received approximately
4000 votes. If just 10% of those who voted for him, or 400 supporters,
were to contribute $25 each, the LPMC would raise $10,000 and be halfway
toward our goal of raising $20,000 by 2010.
This Saturday April 25th from 6:00 until 9 p.m., the LP will be hosting
a calling party to reach out to our membership, let them know about the
Liberty 400 Challenge and ask for their support. Sam Goldstein has
graciously offered to let the party use his office at 8925 N Meridian
Street, Suite # 101 (near 91st & Meridian) for this event. Please bring
your cellphone (and charger just in case) as there are only three
landlines available for use at the office.
We will have a script and list of people ready for you to call.
Can we count on you to be there and help? Please email Allison Maguire
(magui-@hotmail.com or call 317-410-1988) and let her know. Feel
free to invite anyone else you know who would like to help out!
3. Take the last train to Clarksville
Event: LPIN State Convention
Start Time: Friday, May 15 at 5:00pm
End Time: Sunday, May 17 at 12:00pm
