Hello Neighbors,
I need to tell you all that I now know that I WITNESSED the burglars
putting their car into the garage at 13522 Lamplight Village on Thursday,
December 6.
I have discussed this info with the detective on the case through
calling 311 yesterday (after making the connection between what I saw and
what was in this group discussion). I wanted to discuss with Mr.
Benavidez in person (and did tonight) before posting to the group to be sure
this was not a car belonging to him or his neighbors.
The vehicle in question was a 1988 Cadillac – gray (silver-ish), dull
paint, black tires with no whitewall or hubcaps. It had the gray
vinyl-type roof cover on the back portion of the roof visible on the side
of the car behind the rear passenger doors. TX License Plate: 518 LCC.
Detective Grabler has asked that IF YOU SEE THIS CAR PLEASE CALL 911
ASAP AND REPORT IT IN CONNECTION WITH THE BURGLARY AT 13522 LAMPLIGHT
VILLAGE DRIVE ON DEC 6TH. The detective has put an alert out to area
policemen to watch for it.
Please don’t run the license plate – the detective has tracked down
the former owner on record who sold it in September and is currently
working a lead to the possible purchasers of the car.
There were two suspects – Hispanic men. The passenger was wearing a
day-glow orange T-Shirt – and this was the stupid reason I passed on
my instincts to call 911 immediately. It just didn’t feel right –
so much so that I observed their actions, wrote down what I saw, and
drove by three times to check out what was going on – but when on the
third pass the front door appeared to be intact and the passenger
reappeared on the driveway from the front door in a day-glow orange t-shirt,
I moved on. The passenger got back into the car, the garage door went
up, the car pulled in, the garage door went down (way too quickly for
them to hit a button outside of the car).
My faulty assumptions:
1) Any burglar would not wear a really bright colored shirt like
that.
2) If burglars had broken into a house the damage to the front door
would be evident from the street (and my car).
3) Burglars would not have access to a remote control which would
open and close the garage door (could have been a third person but why
would the passenger get back into the car to have the driver pull it
into the garage?).
We do not know if there were other people involved than these two
suspects in this particular car.
Detective Grabler says it would be best to call 911 if we suspect
anything like this in the future – it is better to have to apologize to
someone for wrongly suspecting them than to drive on (as I did) and have
to chase them down afterwards. Hopefully the info I was able to give
him and the help you all might be able to provide will bring these
burglaries in the area to an end.
