Car breakins reported in North Shields

I heard that up to 6 cars have been broken into in the North Shields neighb=
orhood. =0AHere's some tips to remember on safety:=0A=0ATry to secure all =
valuables outside and provide lots of lighting at night, although these inc=
idents below seem to be happening during the day. =0AYou can call 911 for a=
ny in-progress calls where police may need to come out. You can call 311 f=
or anything that is non-emergency like reporting a car that was broke into =
sometime overnight and needing a case number for your insurance. They may =
decide to come out and take prints but it=E2=80=99s not an in-progress emer=
gency. Calls to 911 that report things like: Prowler or possible Burgl=
ary in Progress will generate the fastest response. If you spot a suspici=
ous vehicle, the single most important thing you can do is to get the licen=
se plate number. =0ASometimes just walking out side and looking at them wil=
l signal to them that you are aware of their presence and perhaps scare the=
m off if they are up to no good. Unfortunately, there are a lot of roofer=
s in the area right now and they are sitting in their cars talking on their=
cell phones so that seems to be a normal.
