Thank you Richard. Another safety item that my husband reminded me was to keep the back door locked even when we are at home.
Take care and thank you for keeping us up to date.

Subject: [LVN] Car breakins reported in North Shields
I heard that up to 6 cars have been broken into in the North Shields neighborhood.
Here's some tips to remember on safety:
Try to secure all valuables outside and provide lots of lighting at night, although these incidents below seem to be happening during the day.
You can call 911 for any in-progress calls where police may need to come out. You can call 311 for anything that is non-emergency like reporting a car that was broke into sometime overnight and needing a case number for your insurance. They may decide to come out and take prints but it’s not an in-progress emergency. Calls to 911 that report things like: Prowler or possible Burglary in Progress will generate the fastest response. If you spot a suspicious vehicle, the single most important thing you can do is to get the license plate number.
Sometimes just walking out side and looking at them will signal to them that you are aware of their presence and perhaps scare them off if they are up to no good. Unfortunately, there are a lot of roofers in the area right now and they are sitting in their cars talking on their cell phones so that seems to be a normal.
