Area K O'day Qualifier

The O'day Champs are close by this year - July 30 - Aug 2 at Detroit YC.
This year it's in lasers - last year it was in Sunfish for the 1st time in
quite a while.
Unfortunately, the Area K qualifier conflicts w/ the GL Champs at Macatawa.
My apologies to those adversely effected.
If you don't win the Area K's (or go to GL Champs or some other event
instead) but still want to attend the Champs you can apply via resume. Most
likely, if you want to apply via resume you will need to bring your own boat
vs. using the new boats that are chartered by the elim qualifiers. Please
let me know if you plan on applying via resume.

O'Day Area K Singlehanded Championship

Racing on White Bear Lake
June 13-14, 2009
Rules: These races shall be conducted under the International
Sailing Federation (ISAF) Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2009-2012 as
modified by the Prescriptions of US SAILING, RRS Appendix P, the current
Championship Conditions, The International Laser Class Rules (ILCA), the
Notice of Race (NOR) including any amendments to the NOR except as any of
these are altered by the Sailing Instructions.
It is intended that decisions made by the
protest committee are non appealable in accordance with RRS 70.5 and the US
SAILING prescription to that rule. If the requirements show on
http://raceadmin.ussailing.org/Rules/No_Appeal/Rule_70_5_a__Procedure.htm
are not met, the decisions of the protest committee may be appealed.
Note: With regards to a 69 hearing/no
appeal. A contact person will be designated by US SAILING and that
individual must be consulted in advance of calling a 69 hearing.
Alteration of Class Rules: A compass may be taped to the deck.
Advertising: The event is classified as a Category C event in accordance
with ISAF Regulation 20 (Advertising Code).
Boats: The event will be sailed in Laser Class boats (bring your
own).
Eligibility: All competitors MUST BE:
A. At least age 16 years in the
Calendar year.
B. Must be current members of US
SAILING.
C. A member of one of the following:
1) A Sailing Club or Sailing
Organization (SC/SO) or Laser Class Association, belonging to a Sailing
Organization (SA) recognized by US SAILING;
2) A Sailing Club or Sailing
Organization, or Laser Class Association, belonging directly to US SAILING;
3) A Community Sailing Program
(CSP) which is a member of the local SA;
4. A member of or a drilling
Reservist of the Military Service.
D. Each Competitor's SA/SO, CSP shall
be located within the geographical borders of Area K.
E. No competitor after entering this
elimination may enter any other elimination for the finals for this year,
after participating in this elimination.
Laser Class Rules require that each
competitor be a current member of the Laser Class Association
Entry Fee: $45 entry fee includes
regatta T-shirt, off-the-water refreshments, food Saturday morning and
evening and Sunday morning. Make checks payable to District 21 and remit at
registration: A $5 saving for all US Sailing members off the above fees

Sailing Instructions: Sailing Instructions will be distributed at
the Skippers Meeting.
Scoring: (a) 3 Races are required to be completed to constitute a
series
(b) When from 5 to 8 races have been completed, a boat's
series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score
Life Jackets: All competitors in US SAILING Championships, at all levels,
shall ware, while on the water, other than for brief periods while adding or
removing clothing a U.S. Coast Guard (or Canadian) approved PFD, except when
ORC regulations apply.
Note: It is expected that the highest placed eligible finisher will
compete in the US National Singlehanded Championship to be held at the
Detroit Y.C., Belle Isle, Detroit, MI July 28-August 2, 2009. This eligible
finisher must declare his or her desire to qualify for the O'Day
Championship when they register and prior to the 1st race.
Venue:
7.1 Bald Eagle Lake, Minnesota
7.2 Regatta headquarters will be at the Reed Residence,
located on the west side of Bald Eagle Lake
7.3 Direcitons: From Saint Paul, take 35E North. Exit
Highway 96 (you will see a White Bear Lake water tower). Take a left at the
end of the exit ramp on to highway 96. Take a right on Centerville Road (the
second light). Go down Centerville road to County Road H2 (the first stop
sign). Take a right (you can't turn left). Follow H2 to the end at which
point it hits Bald Eagle Lake. Take a left onto West Bald Eagle Boulevard.
The Reed Residence is a light gray stucco house with a horseshoe driveway
and a white fence. It is about 5 houses past H2 on the lakeside. The address
is 5552 West Bald Eagle Boulevard, White Bear Township, MN 55110
COURSES
The courses to be sailed will be as follows: Windward-Leeward, Triangles and
Modified Windward-Leeward and Triangles
PRIZES
Prizes will be given for Laser Full rig finishes first - third, first junior
(be he/she 4.7, Laser Radial or Laser Full rig), first master and first
woman
DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule
4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability
for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction
with or prior to, during or after the regatta
