SUPERVISORY LIBRARIAN (Cataloger)
Congressional Research Service, Library of Congress, Washington DC

The Congressional Research Service (CRS) will be establishing a
Knowledge Services Group (KSG) and seeks a Supervisory Librarian to
serve as Head of the Asset Management Section within the KSG. In support
of the CRS mission of service to Congress, information professionals in
the KSG will advise and inform both the US Congress and CRS analytical
staff by providing seven services including information resources
management, expert on-demand information research, information products
and resources, product updating, briefings and seminars, consultations
on research methodologies, and customized training on information
research and resources for individuals and groups.

As the Section Head, the Supervisory Librarian will be responsible for
effectively managing staff performing work at a variety of levels;
establishing policies and procedures for staff who performing
bibliographic control, including original and copy cataloging, for
resources in a variety of formats, including print and electronic, using
a range of metadata standards; and serving as primary liaison with CRS
managers and staff, library and information networks, information
centers, experts in government agencies, associations, the private
sector, and/or research groups. The incumbent will be granted a high
degree of independence, exercising considerable judgment in carrying out
duties and responsibilities in accordance with industry best practices
and CRS guidelines and policies.
